Four points dropped from 90’+ goals in the past three weeks for Everton. That’s probably the end of our European hopes, but to be honest, I’m okay with that. We almost arrived a year early and simply don’t have the squad depth at the moment for a European campaign. Strengthen over the summer and go again next year.

Meanwhile…you’re welcome Arsenal. Win this weekend away to West Ham and the title is all but won.

how many more runs can Pickford make before he starts declining? 32 is already considered old at a lot of clubs

Idk man, it may just be the year. We’ve already been breaking club records this year…and NOT in a good way. No big deal to just add one more broken record to that list.
To be fair, this is one of the worst seasons I’ve seen from either club (definitely us) since I started watching. The lowest I think I’ve seen Chelsea finish is ~12th and until last year, that was around the worst I’ve seen us finish too.

He’s been the best keeper in the PL for a few seasons now, and probably deserves more credit than any single person for the fact that Everton are still in the PL today. His double save and then third save off his face from the subsequent corner against Chelsea a few years ago is still one of the greatest sequences I’ve ever seen from a keeper, especially given the stakes.

Fortunately, I think playing in goal will help with his longevity. If he were an outfield player it would be reasonable to think he was coming to the end of his prime. As a goalie, I’m not sure. There’s definitely examples of other guys who were still doing it at a pretty high level till almost 40.

I’m so fuggin over baldy
Can’t be all Slot after the job he did last season, right? The directors spent half a billion dollars and barely got any impact players out of it. I mean, I’m sure Isak will come good on his price eventually as he’s just been injured but the rest have big question marks.

I really look at Liverpool and Chelsea this season and the only difference I see is yall had enough stability and leadership where yalls lows didn’t become overwhelming holes. Chelsea on the other hand have zero stability and zero leaders to do the same. So our lows got LOW.. like right now.

It’s not - we def purchased pieces that don’t appear to fit. That’s going to happen. My bone to pick with baldy is his style of play. His style of play was supposed to be easier on the players bodies too and we still have injuries mounting. I think last year was an anomaly and players were still flying high from Klopps presence. He has had an entire season to right the ship and we still look the same as first of season. I haven’t understood his team selections at times either - eg Gakpo. Mac Allister and Salah have been off the pace all season but he continues to stick with them even at times when other players looked better. Several analysts have commented that players don’t appear to know their role or team strategy. Also have lacked a fighting spirit. That’s entirely on the manager.

That called off West Ham goal is probably correct. The part that most non-Arsenal fans will be upset with though is the fact that Arsenal do the same things game in and game out in regards to corners and yet somehow never get anything called on them. Multiple managers of opposing teams have called out Arsenal after a match this season for the type of interference on the goalkeeper that they do. And now they get saved by it where it might win them the league. Makes sense.

Agreed. Will also add that there was maybe 1 or 2 other fouls on the play committed by Arsenal.

It really goes back to the fact that the PL hasn’t bothered to crack down on the hand fighting in the box all season. It happens in EVERY corner/long throw and is called next to never. If they’d put an end to it back in August, we wouldn’t be in a situation where the title ultimately ended up being decided by VAR disallowing a goal for holding on a set piece where there were probably five fouls by both teams.

I’ve seen that same exact goal scored on Vicario at least 6 times in the premier league.

It should get called more than it does but the fact that they almost never call it and chose to call it then (and VAR had to go back and intervene) has got to be painful for West Ham and City fans.

You know PL fans are unified in their thoughts on that goal when you see so many teams supporters all posting similar goals that did count and all of them were Arsenal goals.
