Four points dropped from 90’+ goals in the past three weeks for Everton. That’s probably the end of our European hopes, but to be honest, I’m okay with that. We almost arrived a year early and simply don’t have the squad depth at the moment for a European campaign. Strengthen over the summer and go again next year.

Meanwhile…you’re welcome Arsenal. Win this weekend away to West Ham and the title is all but won.

how many more runs can Pickford make before he starts declining? 32 is already considered old at a lot of clubs

Idk man, it may just be the year. We’ve already been breaking club records this year…and NOT in a good way. No big deal to just add one more broken record to that list.
To be fair, this is one of the worst seasons I’ve seen from either club (definitely us) since I started watching. The lowest I think I’ve seen Chelsea finish is ~12th and until last year, that was around the worst I’ve seen us finish too.

He’s been the best keeper in the PL for a few seasons now, and probably deserves more credit than any single person for the fact that Everton are still in the PL today. His double save and then third save off his face from the subsequent corner against Chelsea a few years ago is still one of the greatest sequences I’ve ever seen from a keeper, especially given the stakes.

Fortunately, I think playing in goal will help with his longevity. If he were an outfield player it would be reasonable to think he was coming to the end of his prime. As a goalie, I’m not sure. There’s definitely examples of other guys who were still doing it at a pretty high level till almost 40.
