Nah, but I’ve grown up in a house hold as a child with a single mom and a sibling and we had less than the “poor” because they had assistance and we had to get by.

There’s government subsidized homes that are 4 miles from my house that are nicer than a majority of the subdivisions surrounding it.

My childhood taught me the value of a dollar and I’ve worked my tail off to not have to worry about money now. Luckily my mother is in a far better financial position as well. My sibling ended up being successful also; but now she’s in an even more important position and that’s being a marvelous mother to two babies.

In America, no matter your circumstances; there is a path to be successful.

Also, this sense of superiority is nauseating to a lot of foreigners, especially ones from countries that arguably have a greater quality of life than we do in Europe or Asia.

No offense but why should we care. The best European cultures live a B+ kind of lifestyle and that’s only due to rich small white people groups who pay a lot and have oil.

Japan has a great culture due to their actual culture and there are a few “rich” countries due to oil in ME but lives under barbaric cultures (Israel included)

The rest of the world outside of those dozen countries literally don’t matter to how we live or what we believe.

The US is the best country and always will be despite its issues (which are self inflicted to begin with)

I work at a food pantry in Unicoi County. I know better. There are over 80 people in the county sleeping outdoors after the flood. STILL.

Quality of life is subjective, hence why I said arguably. But it’s well documented that Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Denmark, Netherlands, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, UK, France, Japan etc, have equal if not better living standards than the average American.

I hardly see eye to eye with someone like @hog88, but he doesn’t twist, bend, and consistently reframe discussions to his advantage using every logical fallacy known to man to come off as intelligent in the way you do. Nor does he have a condescending demeanor when committing those same fallacies.

I can certainly discuss how the standard of living for the average French citizen is comparable to the average American, but that would involve a lot of nuance, and taking into consideration of life expectancy, vacation time, healthcare access, overall fear of financial ruin, public services, and so on. But I don’t see how that conversation goes beyond you picking one or two points that are most convenient to you, insinuating a narrative that I have, and trying to argue against that narrative.

No, you’re too stupid to read obviously.
If you are extremely poor you qualify for assistance that gets you privileges that low income families can’t afford nor qualify for.

Being extremely poor is often a better situation than being low income. It’s the same reason someone working 40 hours a week at 7.25 has a better life than someone working 40 at $14. The 7.25 an hour gets food stamps, housing assistance, and more. The $14 hrly doesn’t.
