Yes we could, theoretically. Lots of times guys that are managers get lots of help financially. So the difference would be negligible for their contribution really if they moved to that role.

Yea, Burg very well may not return so that number could be 4, they also could still part with 1 walk on so maybe even 5.

I may be wrong, but I think you can only have 13 scholarship players in D1 NCAAM.

13/16= 3 spots open

We had a full roster of 16 this past season, technically 15 is the limit but we have a DSA (designated student athlete) so we get an extra spot for that player as they “don’t count”. We lose 4 seniors in Gillespie, Okpara, Abram & Hurst and for the purpose of this we are assuming Ament is headed to the NBA, if that changes I will obviously change this, but I don’t foresee that being the case with him widely mocked in the Top 10. So, losing 5/16 drops you to 11 returning players exiting the year and entering the portal season.

I feel like of the 13 we have rn, I think 6 are great players. Henderson with the injury and the freshman don’t seem like guaranteed contributors so it seems foggy at this point.

If we can add 3 more, preferably

I feel like PG and 2 big men. We dont need wings (SF)... we have like 5 guys that can play that spot. We have Haralson who is basically JJJ 2.0. Lundblade, Green, Scott, Washington.

Now if miracles happen and we get AMent back or Juke then touche.... but I think we need another experienced PG and 2 more big men because right now we have a grand total of 2 big men on roster. Even if we are dedicated to small ball thats not enough. We have like 4 dudes over 6'5 and one over 6'8. And he is like 220 soaking wet. Sorry, Washington is 6'9 but hes definitely a wing. So 2 guys over 6'8 and 2 over 200 pounds and they are not the same 2. We need beef.

I'd go as far as to say if we got Juke or Ament we should use the other 2 spots for big men. As either of them would lessen the need for another PG by sheer talent.

I know Massamba and Burg didn't work out this year, but I wonder if the staff goes overseas for a big or a point guard.

Between Hill, Henderson, and Clark, we have 3 PGs. Only so many scholarships are going to go to a PG.

Guessing it’s possible for a big, though.

The word is that Henderson is going to get shoulder surgery and rehab. Sounds like the staff is doing him a favor by keeping him on for the year.

So, really our 16th spot is the DSA and that's Paull OR Duncan, which would open up a total of 3 spots if we cut the non DSA walk-on.

I mention this because some folks are worried about the 5th year not having space for Ja'Kobi & Felix if Juke commits.

So we have 2 or 3 spots still...Juke has one and then up to 2 could remain if needed but a walk-on would be removed and likely switched to a manager or something if they wanted to remain part of the team.

Also Dai Dai is likely more capable than Burg or Bishop was. So between those 3 + Henderson once healthy I agree we should be fine. We also have added a couple forwards that are more comfortable dribble driving than what we lost as well in Haralson & Lue.

Plus if ya land Juke...will have the potential to roll out 5 players that can all drive to the rim with comfort.
