2026 Vols Transfer Portal Thread

I guess right now sans Juke, I would take this year’s “best 5” over the portal class we have.

Gillespie over Hill
Ames over Boswell
Ament over Lundblade
Estrella = Haralson
Okpara over Rubin

I think where the potential for the 2026-2027 team comes in is if we can stack enough depth. This past year we had shockingly little quality depth after pre-season discussions have the team being generally thought of one of our deeper rosters. We found out that was wrong.

We lack star power with this portal class but if we can bring in 3 contributors with these last spots then overall the team could be better. Remains to be seen.

That ranking is fair. But I feel really good about Hill. you know it when you see it sometimes. And he might have it.

Such as? He was adamant that UT is the favorite for Juke if he doesn’t hit pro. He’s uncommitted as of now. Said repeatedly that he’s unsure regarding PG1.
I enjoy Tony’s content but it’s become evident he’s been talking crazy in regard to Tennessee’s budget and their so called “contingency” plans. I’m not going to elaborate any further.

Man, Felix was so so good for us down the stretch this year. I need to see Rubin play P4 competition first before I can say he’s as good as Okpara.
For sure. Felix was such a defensive force in the middle and on the perimeter. Almost no way Rubin matches that presence all over the floor.

Felix had some really good games, but just like JP was inconsistent. Rubin is a 11.3ppg, 7.1rpg, 2.3apg, 2.3bpg 58.5% FG every one of those is an upgrade over Felix's best numbers except FG%

Unless I'm missing your criteria for comparing I think Rubin is more than capable of stepping into the SEC and meeting Felix's season of 8ppg, 6.3rpg, 1.5bpg

Is that what is being offered? Cause Rubin is on the squad as is Felix right now...so we would be getting both if the 5th year passed.
I'm not sure I understand. Felix is out of eligibility, but I was responding to the hypothetical lineup comparison of Felix last year to Rubin next year.

Just look at the Michigan game in the Elite 8. Things started falling apart once he got into foul trouble early in the first half. He was a menace in the post. And once he and Gillespie started developing that chemistry towards the end of the year, the lob threat returned and opened up his offensive contributions.

You mentioned another year of Felix...thought you was implying "if the 5th year passes"

I mean I don't know how everyone else views it...but I look at production Felix's production this year wasn't elite in any category. I know he was extremely valuable and is an elite defender...but Rubin can absolutely match his production even if he doesn't win SEC defensive player of the year.

Rubin did that in the Big Pumpkin Conference, though. Just quoting his stats isn't really proof of anything until he steps uo to Felix's competition level. I'll wait until I see him do it in the SEC to definitively call him and Felix a wash.
