Largely agree with this. We’ll have traded front court depth for backcourt depth, which many on here have been clamoring for, for years. Seems that we’ll add another big, regardless of what Juke/Ament do, but it would still be the inverse of what we had last year, with about the same expectations imo.

All the talk about Tanner is what I was referring to.

A couple of more pieces are needed, but I’m elated with what CRB’s been able to do so far with the TP.

I will hold off on final judgement of the roster till it’s complete so as not to be accused of “freaking out.” I do think we’re a few pieces away still from being better than this year though. The last three spots will be huge, because if the goal is Final Four I want 8-9 strong rotation spots. Our depth is exclusively freshmen right now and Troy Henderson.

What if 5th year passes? If we add Juke or Nate stays and keep JG and Okpara we are right there with everyone in top ten. I am sure if they don’t get a PG they will go for a Diop or Thiam.

I agree with the overall premise, however I’d argue the depth is good but devoid of stars.

Ament & Ja’Kobi > Hill & Haralson

Really need a Tanner, Juke, Anderson, maybe Ament back to take this team over the hump, imo.

Replaced them with foreign workers. I didn't look to see what that meant in this instance but normally it's procured service thru a 3rd party.

Agreed. Right now I think we have a top 17-22 type of roster. I don’t think many here would be happy with that especially considering the money we are spending and Barnes adapting his entire philosophy this offseason.

If we were to add Juke and another solid big or even 2, I could easily see us having a guaranteed top 10 team next season

I met Shaun Alexander in 2002 and he made a snide comment about my Tennessee hat so I asked him how many times he beat Tennessee. He was BIG mad. It was at a Billy Graham crusade. He was a speaker. Haha.

Agreed, coming out of this without Juke or Ament back would be super deflating if you have your sights set on a Final Four.

I guess right now sans Juke, I would take this year’s “best 5” over the portal class we have.

Gillespie over Hill
Ames over Boswell
Ament over Lundblade
Estrella = Haralson
Okpara over Rubin

I think where the potential for the 2026-2027 team comes in is if we can stack enough depth. This past year we had shockingly little quality depth after pre-season discussions have the team being generally thought of one of our deeper rosters. We found out that was wrong.

We lack star power with this portal class but if we can bring in 3 contributors with these last spots then overall the team could be better. Remains to be seen.

Such as? He was adamant that UT is the favorite for Juke if he doesn’t hit pro. He’s uncommitted as of now. Said repeatedly that he’s unsure regarding PG1.

I’d change it to Haralson over JP & Felix = Rubin

But with Nate & Ja’Kobi edge still to this year’s team.
