2026 Vols Transfer Portal Thread

I feel like Freeman may be our backup plan if Juke doesn’t commit? I don’t see how we make it work with 3 quality point guards and 3 quality shooting guards but its a nice problem to have lol

May end up being wrong, would love to be wrong, but just dont see Ament coming back.
Just depends on the feedback he gets from the NBA and where he may be selected. Only takes one team and he has upside despite some obvious areas that need improvement. He is a good athlete but not exceptional and I think he will have problems creating his own shot in the league. Lack of strength and his relatively poor efficiency at the rim despite being 6'10 is another. Mullins is coming back at UCONN without even getting a draft evaluation. Never know. If you had asked me a month ago about the NBA, I would have thought the chances of him going pro were 100%. I'm not as convinced now. He really isn't ready for the NBA but would be taking a risk coming back to college, if he got injured.

Alright question for you all: Let's say we were only guaranteed one of two things
1) Ament return
2) Freeman and Juke Harris

Which would you choose?

I'd take 1
Great question, think I’d have to go with Ament ultimately. Having him back would catapult us to a top 5 roster immediately. But then again, I guess option 2 would do the same thing, lol

Don’t think you can go wrong with either option. Either one would be equally great when it comes down to it

Oh man, I’m surprised this is a question. For sure it’s 2, to me. I figure Nate Ament vs just Freeman OR Harris is the closer question (I’d bet on upside and continuity and go Nate over either of those two, especially Freeman, but I can see arguments to the contrary)

I could be wrong but I doubt both Freeman and Harris would come together. My guess is that it would be one or the other.
But to play along with the premise, I also would take Ament.

A great kid the fans already know and the excitement would be immense. Expectations would be through the roof. We can assume he would be a better player than this past year, which was plenty good. Ament is an automatic mismatch in college at the 3 or 4, and an underappreciated rebounder and passer. Plus with Haralson already in the fold, Freeman to me is sort of similar and only so many minutes to go around. Freeman has also had foot problems his first 2 years at Syracuse and only played in something like 38 games in 2 years.

If Tanner decides to stay at Vanderbilt and not join the Vols, it will be a small let down. Although, I would commend Tanner for showing loyalty to the school that wanted him in the beginning, that's a hard thing to find in this NIL era...
It'll make thrashing some Candy butt feel even more meaningful, however.

2. All day long, and every day. One injury to Ament, and it could be over. These are two high value targets, and both could be a part of a championship team, from start to finish. Freeman and Juke together would likely easily outdo Ament's stats.

Having said that, either would obviously be a great thing to happen.

I love Ament, but he could be a passive type of player until it was forced upon him to make something happen when no one else on the court could produce offense. With the type of roster we have, with a lot of guys eager to score, I am not sure he would have the same opportunity to increase his draft stock. He would still be a great weapon for us, but more of a compliment of the offense, not one of the two primary scorers. More like a 12 points a game type of player. At the same time, I'd love to see what he could do with another year of experience and an offseason to gain some muscle. Maybe he would take his game to another level, like an first team all american type of talent. The potential is there for that to happen also.
