Vandy Discussion [split from portal thread]

Just to make sure you own this dumbassery with your full chest:

You're asserting that one year where Vanderbilt performed well against Tennessee automatically proves they've "passed" our athletic department?

I swear, the way some of you people allow fear, anxiety, and insecurity to overwhelm you at the slightest hint of a setback is hilarious. Letting panic dictate all of your emotions is a sign of emotional immaturity.
So it’s just coincidence they hammered us in football, women’s bball in Knoxville (our two best programs), and have wiped the floor with us in baseball for two years?

People who draw definitive conclusions with tiny sample sizes are much more ignorant. 😀

Nobody thinks they’ll walk away, but neither should anybody assume they’re gonna be able to repeat this year after year. And we again need to emphasize that for all of these incredible teams you folks are fapping to, they all flamed out before they got anywhere near the big stage.

Our programs have done much better and will again.
hell, Tennessee hasn't repeated ANYTHING year after year. my point is Vandy isn't a walk-over team anymore.

Most people in the football forum expect Tennessee to have a 7-5 season. What's the bet that Vandy can do at least that good if not better next year?

This is just wrong.

They had one good year in football because they were loaded up with seniors, and a good year in basketball and still got knocked out in the second round.

To act like they’ve passed us in anyway is extremely shortsighted at best and trolling at worst.
Why wasn’t Tennessee loaded up with seniors? Tennessee is going to be young again this year. They just seem to be one step ahead on the NIL learning curve. We are still giving money to high school guys. They did decide to give Curtis a bunch of money so we will see how things play out.

Except that this small sample size has some major new drivers that didn't exist before. Vanderbilt can use its money now. How many people expected them to just take Georgia's top rated QB recruit away from them? Vandy could never do that back in the Jam a Franklin era because there was no NIL.

you can't look at history anymore because the game is completely unrecognizable now. the whole thing is completely different. records and history no longer matter. Ask Indiana.

Football was an inexcusable fluke. People were fired over that.

Women's basketball hasn't been one of our best programs since Pat died.

If you're that unhappy, Vandy is looking for fans. NewJohnsonCommode has a certain je ne sais qoi about it.

I think their women’s coach is legit. Jury’s out for me on Kim till we see what happens next year. We’ve seen one really promising season that far surpassed expectations and one that was a dud. Hard to say what the future holds.

Again, with football, one year shouldn’t cause your brain to spiral like this. We had some deficiencies last year that spurred our coach to hire a pretty legendary DC and a strength coach who was an integral part of the fabric of a championship team. So is one loss evidence that our fortunes have flipped? Nah, but you seem prone to worrying, so I can’t fix that for you.

And Corbin’s shine is gone with baseball. Hell, their own fans don’t really believe in him anymore, especially after he masterfully steered their #1 team to an early exit last season. I think Josh will grow and get better, so I’m not worried at this point.

Sportsbooks have Vandys win total at 5.5 this season. I’ll bet that are under 7.

Everyone knows the playing field is different, but all you’re doing is speculative doomcasting. Our basketball coach is out there in the portal making North Carolina and Kentucky fans ask how much money Tennessee could possibly have, but you and the other Chicken Littles are shouting “uncle” because Vanderbilt won some games.

Have a little pride.

So Vandy finishing 13th this year after their best year ever is even less impressive, right??

The Vandy defenders are DENSE.
we will see who's dense when we examine which team has a better record in 2026.

Vandy had the #80 recruiting class in 2025 and they boat raced us on our home field.

"Oh, that's just a fluke" no, you have to be pretty dense to think that getting destroyed on your home field is a fluke 🙄

I'm not talking about basketball chief.

Vanderbilt has been competitive with Tennessee in basketball and baseball for decades.

they are now catching up in football.
