2026 Vols Transfer Portal Thread

Definitely remember Derick Hord. He played at my high school, and we were chanting, "Go to UT!"
Braddock was a Parade All American from Baylor and won a National Championship at North Carolina playing with Jordan. He averaged 36 points his senior year in HS - this was before the 3 point shot which were 90 % of his makes.

All I'm going to say is that @therickbol is not some fly by night poster who comes here to stir trouble for the sake of watching the board burn. I'll stake myself to that belief. If I'm wrong, this has been the most elaborate troll job of all time as he has been around here for 20 years.

If I am not mistaken, I believe he also has some ties to the midstate via travel ball coaching, either past or present. He can correct me on that if I am misspoken.

I am not here to validate his claim, but I don't believe he just made it up for attention. He may/may not have bad info, but I’ve never known him to come stir up things for attention or chaos.

Well
This is random and as close as I’ll get to insider status, but I was at the gym on campus yesterday and heard burg say “I would have been so sad if you hadn’t come back” to clarence so I assumed both were staying. I also heard something about BYU. Tifwiw lol
Well that’s just sweet. I hope there’s spots for both of them

without reading 20 pages of the thread....is there anything going on with Juke and Hill? Seems like we were expecting something earlier this week, but nothing but crickets.

IIrc, Mackey played on that Georgia Tech that made the Final 4, in the early 90's. That GT team was known as "Lethal Weapon 3", led by freshman PG and my favorite player, Kenny Anderson. Dennis Scott and Brian Oliver were the other 2 in "Lethal Weapon 3". I saw 'em play and beat LSU, at TBA, in the 2nd round of the NCAA Tourney. That LSU team had Shaq and Chris Jackson. Probably, the best game I have ever seen at TBA that didn't involve the Vols. Although, I did enjoy that "Big Dog" Robinson game where he had 44 points and Purdue beat Kansas, a few years later. Damn, I'm high and rambling, my bad.

Btw, I really hope the Vols get Juke and Hill. I really want Tanner, also. But, I'll believe it when I see it
I saw Malcolm Mackey play in High School(Brainard), was quite the player back in the day. I LOVED that Ga Tech basketball team

If Hill is committing to us, we’ll probably hear about it today or tomorrow.

Juke sounds like he’ll be announcing next week. Lot of optimism for the good guys, but nothing concrete.

Believe Hill’s visit concludes today so fingers crossed we get news this afternoon or evening. Don’t think I’ve seen many Juke updates posted other than we still feel good about where we are with him.

I’m going to give a medium frustrating update on Tanner. I’m holding some optimism still because we AREN’T hearing anything. About ten days ago, we made a really simple overture to Tanner. It goes like this: We’re building a championship roster. Watch us build it. If you want to come be a part of this, the money will be substantially better and the growth and team will too. Basically we painted a picture where he can come in after seeing the team shape up and not have to get into the tangle of visits etc. He has sophisticated representation and competing opinions in his family and team. I think our staff/collective gave them a path where they each get what they want. Will he enter? Dunno. There are three paths: stay, nba or come join us. We made a smart move by taking away option four— shop it. I like the silence. I know I could be wrong, but Hill, Haralson and Harris all followed a path where other schools and writers were the last to know what we were up to. We’ll know by early next week where all the cards fall, but we will do just about anything to close with TT if he’s game. The three people I trust the most on this all have a little smirk on this one, like something is up. It was the same way early with Nate last year.

Honestly just feels like he’s worried about being loyal to Vandy. Hope he really realizes what’s going on here & the squad being built.

Yeah, it's really the only thing that makes sense at this point regarding the hesitancy. The kid just needs to understand that Vandy influence is just a small fraction of those in the Midstate and the love and support he'd get from Tennessee greatly outweighs any negative impact Vanderbilt or their irrelevant fanbase would impose.

Thanks for the insight. I’ve seen people speculate that perhaps Tanner is just waiting things out, which in most cases would seem like a cope, but this gives me hope that this time it might actually be the case.

This is my take as well. He's never been one to straight up troll on this board. Snarky comments, sure. That's par for the course though.

Any concern that Juke may not officially be in the boat before the portal deadline, possibly affecting Tanner's decision?

💯 agree. Any nuggets I read, I immediately check who posted it. I was caught off guard by @therickbol post but I’ve seen his name around here forever so didn’t blow it off. I’ll also add that I appreciate insiders sharing what they can - that’s what makes this board fun for me during peak recruiting seasons (or coach searches!), I didn’t like seeing people make fun of him. I’ve seen plenty of insiders leave over that kind of nonsense.

Funny yo
Lightfoot was a huge bust. Was probably the best player talent wise to ever come out of Chattanooga even more talented then Malcom Mackey imo and ended up going somewhere like Idaho State after junior college I think. But Vols did get CJ Black, Vincent Yarbrough, Jay Price and Harris Walker who flunked out from Chattanooga area.

Did we ever recruit even recruit Ace Bailey born and raised in Chattanooga who is now with the Utah Jazz or OKC Thunder Shai Gilgeous-Alexander who attended Hamilton Heights in Chattanooga?
Funny yoo would say something about being a bust. It really depends on how you look at it. Did he ever make nba money? No he didn’t accomplish that. But straight from his mouth came this. You know what I get paid 600 to 800 k a year to play a kids game six months out of the year. So a lot of what we consider a bust or success is perspective.😊

We’ll see what happens, not that he needs validation but as @cncchris33 said @therickbol isn’t a troll by any means. I will also add, today is the first time through this whole process I’ve heard that there’s some actual potential with Tanner, what that ultimately means we’ll see, we should know soon enough.

He a
yes at small school Idaho. I meant bust because he had the talent to play at the Kentucky, North Carolina, Kansas, ,etc... of college basketball. He didn't have the grades is my guess why he never went to a bigger school. He didn't even get drafted but did play numerous years overseas though. Mackey at least was a 1st round draft pick but he never lasted long in the NBA.
He actually signed with Oklahoma out of high school.
