2026 Vols Transfer Portal Thread

Uhhhh, you do know Barnes recruited him out of high school right?
Relax...this wasn't a shot at CRB and our staff but def pointed at some of our fans who laughingly were so wrong they were saying JP didn't deserve $1 MM.

I understand the risk/reward calculation by our staff but it's also why I knew JP would very likely end up somewhere else.

Everyone dunking on JP, but lets be honest. He was likely offered a much bigger deal and Michigan and is sending multiple big men to the NBA this year. I think the opportunity makes sense and at least it is out of conference.

Can’t blame Estrella in the slightest for looking out for his earnings and career potential. I don’t know if May will actually develop a big guy better than Barnes, but nonetheless. Not a true Vol, though.

However, and this isn’t a slight toward Estrella and his skills (I truly think he would have made a leap this year), I’m surprised the defending national champion with bucks deluxe needs to get a guy who posted a 7/7/0 stat line in the biggest game of his life. Seems like there are stronger targets.

3-point dunks are the new market inefficiency. Dusty May cracked the code.

It would help to make them though

I think JP was trying to innovate a new shot where you throw the ball down through the hoop from halfway between the FT line and basket. The only downside was that it never went in. But, points for creativity.

I hope so. Nothing you said about Estrella mid season seemed to materialize, so you’re due to get it right.
LMAO...so you must've been one of the "experts" who didn't want pay JP $1 MM.

Edit: So how did JP become Evan Miya's #1 player in scoring efficiency...did he fudge the data? And why did we go on our winning streak when we inserted JP into the lineup and increased his playing time from 13 to 25+ mpg? Ah...you're probably right...MI just hands out $3+ MM NIL deals and lucks into c'ships...LMAO...pls tell me more of your bullsh*t - it's entertaining!

Big 10 just rolling in the money and can spend way more than SEC squads it seems.
Big alum bases with money. It's why the Big Ten gets more tv money- they have more eyes. Just numbers. Michigan shows to have 53,000 students in fall of 2025 while UT has 32,000.

I said he wasn’t worth 3M actually lol. And i don’t care about that? he’s still a soft turncoat
And he just got paid. Literally no one would turn down a job offer paying them $500+ more per yr all while likely being in a job that is a better fit.

Because they actually know how to evaluate talent
I am far from a scout but have watched ball for years. Estrella showed very good offensive skills (defense was definitely average or below) and has the chance to average a near double double with more minutes. Not sure why some of our fans think otherwise.

It's obvious esp if he isn't asked to play like Uros which is exactly what our staff was pushing. Going to suck see him playing well for MI but I don't blame him for taking the $ (unlike the hypocrites on here who act like they wouldn't take a different job no questions asked for a $30 k raise ..lol)

Yeah, like I said, I am a diehard UT fan, but I didn't go there because I didn't think they could best prepare me for my financial future. It was a business decision and not a heart decision. You can still love UT sports, and make a decision that is not in your best interest to go there.

If Barnes and Co. aren't upset about it, we shouldn't be either. Wish him well.

Next!

I'm not sure about playing like Uros. He was the first post in a few years that we could legitimaly throw it to get a key bucket (like the UVA game). His short range baby hooks or jumpers were great. I am guessing he will shoot more 3's too. He has a good shot.

Agree. Nice touch. I can see him released to attempt more 3-pt FGs in their offense.

I hate to see him go. I wanted to see him healthy for a whole season, but I'm pretty sure a talented big will make me forget him pretty quickly. It's just the nature of college basketball right now.

Not that I like the current situation but it’s just business now. Loyalty goes only as far as the 000’s on the check. If you were making $1.5 million and somebody offered you $3.0, wouldn’t you take it?
