Yaxel, Morez, Mara, Elliot were their top 4 scorers (all portal players) Gayle was a 2nd year portal player...that's 5 of their top 6 players in MPG.

McKenney was the true freshman...only other guys that saw good minutes were Burnett (originally a transfer too) and Cason (before injury) it was a roster built with transfers though, anyone trying to sell you something different is crazy.

146.9 of their 200.7 mpg came from transfers

Okay? The point was we don’t have that existing quality of roster they did which the portal built on. Whether they were transfers the year before isn’t really relevant. But we could obviously still get a couple of pieces back out of the portal like Henderson.

Every year and portal season, people work themselves into believing we’re getting some big fish that is a big secret recruitment. This year it’s Juke Harris and Tyler Tanner despite literally no credible person (VQ, Trilly, 247) saying there is anything real going on there. The entirety of the Tanner pipe dream is based off of two posters on vol nation.

JG, Chaz, and DK were players that every credible media member and insider reported on immediately from the jump. There was no secrecy with any of them.

I think this is fair. A Vandy mod posted that he felt, with 100% confidence, that the people around Tanner want him at Vanderbilt.

This feels like a case of an agent playing games to drive up the price Tanner gets from Vandy.

No one has put their name out there to lend credence to the talk on here. He hasn't entered the portal.

Just feels like we should move on to other targets. Don't want to be caught out. Tons of good players out there!

So, with the Tanner dream slowly dying because of his indecision, I wonder where the staff will turn. Can’t imagine we don’t land one “elite” transfer.

I totally agree. I know they have guys in mind, but it’s hard to match what Tanner would bring to the table. Maybe a guy like Pettiford enters

They turned out to be top 5 portal players, but weren't necessarily the super hot must have guy at the time. Especially Knecht, nobody thought he would be what he became. If we don't get Juke Harris and that type of player we will probably still be fine. I'd actually rather spread it around and have a solid 6-7 guys than dump all of our money into two players again.

I look at what Duke did to us in SECT...that's what I'm hoping Dai Dai could be for us.

I hope we're not waiting around on Tanner...sure he'd be an elite get, but can't put all our eggs in that basket.

Isaiah Johnson, Markus Burton, Terrence Hill Jr. all very good PGs and top 35 rated portal guys.

I’m warming up to Aimes but if he’s our answer at PG then i’m not with it. Need a elite guy at that spot

Dalton Knecht was indeed a wanted transfer by many. North Carolina, Kentucky, Kansas, Oregon to name a few.
