2026 Vols Transfer Portal Thread

Sorry, it’s a popular reel lol, just popped in my head this AM…as discussed on here they obviously like Tanner, but he needs to enter the portal. There are a couple other guys too. I know this isn’t something you’re going to like or enjoy but they’re likely to be quieter this year than any other year in hopes of keeping interest and prices down.

Another way to look at this is that these Tennessee underclassmen who are heading to the portal are asking for a raise equal to triple their current NIL.

These guys also lost a collective 12 games this year and lose their 3 best players to graduation/draft regardless of what the underclassmen do.

That math don't math.

My thinking is you overpay for Harris and Tanner (praying he enters) and just hope to build some decent pieces around them and get a quality big man.

Tanner
Harris
Lundblade
Dowd
Portal Center

That's an elite starting 5. Then you have Brown, Burg, Green, Scott, Clark, and you add three more depth pieces in the portal.

Basilio (take that info however you want) is saying we are willing to pay $6M for Juke Harris.

Again, grain of salt
Better than paying $2M for a backup player that averaged like 4ppg. Honestly this new model is gonna start screwing high school players more than anyone. No real point in recruiting unless they are top 10, otherwise just go to the portal because even if you get a player with good potential, they are wanting All American money for their sophmore season, even when they were simply a backup player their freshman year. Its wild.

Sorry if already discussed but, with a thin roster, I thought we might circle back to Peck or Washington.....but then why would you take another HS guy who is likely to leave before you can develop him?
Tennessee should just stay away from high schoolers unless they are 5 star, one and dones like Ament. They either transfer due to lack of playing time or want crazy money if they are small contributors. I would rather just fill those spots with portal players who have already played some college ball and can contribute when called upon.

I think Peck already signed with Dayton.

I wouldn't totally avoid non 5 star HS players but the landscape is certainly trending toward largely portal rosters....if Evans goes, that leaves Brown from last year's class...just not worth the trouble to recruit these guys if they are going to leave after a year....
