By all accounts it sounds like we’ve got the money this year to be pretty aggressive and if we decide that the bidding price on JP is too high, then I’ll trust the staff.

The concern is obviously you commit all this money to a guy who may get hurt again. We see these injury albatross players all the time in the NBA. You can’t win with 25% of your cap on the bench.

So I can understand why we might not match a huge number. I wouldn’t wanna risk my season on JP’s foot either. If this is our one big chance, then let’s be smart about it.

Totally agree. The problem basically came up two years ago; we might have made a final four if Estrella was healthy but he was out for the year and then we didn’t have an inside threat

And I should say I really like Estrella’s talent and do think he would be hard to replace (a lot of our fans are too low on his actual talent), I just have concerns spending double the initial evaluation with the injury history

NIL market gets wilder every year. I had a feeling there would be Power 5 schools who would immediately offer over 1 million but 4 million is nuts.

Also if SF is saying schools are offering Estrella 2x what we offered, that means our offer is 1.5-2 million possibly.

I would say if Estrella is getting offers for double what we are willing to pay him, he’s 100% gone. He’s not taking that big of a discount to stay here, even if he seems to like the staff and the team.

If he hasn’t entered the portal yet (or put out a statement that he intends to), he’s probably not for sure gone. I feel like most guys seem to have done that so far
