2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

I am talking about your claim that "Tennessee is an historic top 10 program under any measure". By some measures it is accurate, true, but your statement sounds just like a bland, biased towards Tennessee claim. I am a tennessee fan through and through, but lets slow down on top 10. Top 15 is a better argument. Hell, I would even say #11.

And how about we talk about the one statistic that matters - 1 national championship in the modern area...1998..... even if we do count the 1967 national championship for the inclusion into whatever definition of "modern era", there are still 10 more programs than us that have 3+ national championships since 1967 I believe? we can claim 1938, 1940, 1950, 1951 if you want, but honestly If you making the "take out the boise state and harvard" argument, I am going to go ahead and move the goalposts, too. But I do not care about those national championships before 1980, and I do not believe you do either... unless you can show me your "feels like '51" shirt.

My point was that, your post is a bit of an exaggeration. What about heisman winners? What about NFL draft picks? And in total wins we are 14th per wikipedia, 11th for winsipedia (please let me know if you use a different source but either way, #11 is not <10); There are many measures by which we are not top 10.
I've addressed the wins and winning % part. You said, "not top 10 by any measure." We are top 10 by the team measures that count...and no, I'm not counting schools like Harvard because they played Division II for most of its history or Boise Junior College. When you only include schools that played their entire history as an FBS program, Tennessee is 10th in % and 11th in wins (the latter being because we had to vacate).

Heismans are individual awards, not teams awards. They're also media manufactured. They don't factor in. Hell, before 2009, Alabama had zero Heismans.

Tennessee is probably the 10th best program all-time. However, consider that Tennessee has accomplished its wins and championships in the SEC....a league with 6 of the 16 winningest programs off all-time. Schools like Michigan, Ohio State, Texas, etc. were in leagues with one other historically great program for most of their histories (Texas' top competition in the SWC was Arkansas), so they stat-padded. Tennessee (and Alabama, Georgia, Auburn, LSU, etc.) couldn't do that. Hell, imagine if we'd switched places with Clemson starting in the 1930s. We' probably be top 5 in all-time wins.

Okay, you make some decent points. Maybe they are top ten historically - I am not entirely convinced but thats just my opinion :) . We can throw in and out factors and variables all day long. Crazy that we are having this conversation over a team that just went 8-5 and lost in Illinois. Anyways, have a great day and lets bring it back to the transfer portal...

WHERE IS OUR DT?

One somewhat tangential thought that came up while typing out these points...since the NCAA has removed Pruitt's show cause based on the fact that his transgressions are now legal...why shouldn't Tennessee tell the NCAA we're now counting those vacated wins for the same reason? It would move us to 10th on the wins list. And it's ridiculous to be punished for something that is not only legal, but the individual who committed the transgressions is now exonerated.

Not sure why any RB would want to play in Deboar's system let alone be a backup
no doubt
What can we do to get the worry circle fired back up? Not nearly enough freak-out happening in this thread lately.
we haven't recruited a top flight running back in 175 days or something

Yes! He cannot eat Taco Bell! Goes right through him. Also no salads unless he hammers it with some Thousand Island or French dressing

Could’ve swore I saw an article the other day that said he had dietary restrictions

Is that true?
I have heard that too but I was responding to the comment about the S&C will either fix him or fire them.

My point is if it is medical and it may not be although all the people claiming he could not gain weight because he is a celiac or allergic to gluten are misinformed as I know all about celiac and once you are diagnosed and are avoiding gluten the you can gain weight.
