That may be the case, but I really hope the staff didn't throw that kind of money at someone who decided he didn't want to be here anymore and then came crawling back.
We’re just going to have to move past this mind set. 99% of the motive for 99% of the players is money. Before that manifested in what school they could get to the NFL with, now it’s NIL. If we don’t take players who are looking for money only it’ll be you and I out there on Saturdays

Why not? Why wouldn’t we give them what they were making previously?

Did he become worse when he tried to leave?
He lost leverage in a business transaction by not making the right decisions so that means the other party, in this case UT, is able to control the deal.

We've seen guys, wasn't it Rickey Gibson?, leverage the fact that someone got hurt to renegotiate his deal with UT.

This time it fell UT's way and that's just how business works.
