We do. And we own that. That made my point. He was looking out for him. I don’t fault the draft move at all. It’s the squirming into the portal when it didn’t work out to see if there was a greener pasture. Let’s calm it for what it is. Just another paid mercenary in this new era of football.Definitely not making him out to be a hero. Just think we’re quick to start talking crap about a dude.
Even if he didn’t come back he played hard for us.
And yes- he is looking out for Mr. Carter- just like every single one of us look out for ourselves above the UT football program![]()
I don't think he actually entered the porthole, did he? I've read a couple of articles that said he did not.We do. And we own that. That made my point. He was looking out for him. Both obtained the buy in and paid for the talent.
The key is: just the talent won't win if you don't have the buy in, just the buy in won't win if you don't have talent.
Cignetti did an amazing job with lesser talent by getting more buy in. NOW he has used Cuban money to get talent and keep the buy in.
Saban did exactly that: make the buy in strong until you can buy the talent. Then Saban did both for a long time.
What happened was that he wanted to come back, but with the little time remaining went ahead and floated his name in the portal.I was under the impression he did once the NFL didn’t workout. That’s just based on posts here. I honestly don’t know.
Coming back to what? There are two parts to this. First, he decided to skip the draft, come back to college football, and enter the transfer portal. Second, he decided to withdraw from the portal, and come back to UT. Two choices, likely with separate reasons for each.Interesting - is he coming back because:
1. Banks is GONE?
2. He thinks he can learn from Jim Knowles
3. Cash
4. All the above???
What happened was that he wanted to come back, but with the little time remaining went ahead and floated his name in the portal.
According to everything I’ve read from those in the know, AC thought that there would no longer be a spot for him since we had recruited the kid from Penn State to essentially fill his spot.
AC decided to pull out of the draft when he learned that he wouldn’t be able to participate in the combine due to recovering from surgery on his toe, which would have hurt his stock.
It’s not up to us who gets to be called VFL or decide which player bleeds Orange.
