Why can we not get both players? If you like them both get them both.
What if you like 50% of options in the candy isle? Does that mean you get everything you like? No

It's called limited funds (aka a budget) that you have to make work and definitely can't "get everything you like"

I'm hoping you're trolling but just in case this is how life works.. unless you have oil money

That's the rub, isn't it. We won't really know until all of this is over, and we see who each team gets.
You are right. I am just assuming because I know TT is gonna spend big because they did that this past season. And it got them to the playoffs.

Seems like Vandy and Indy didn’t spend big, and they had extremely successful seasons and improved quickly. Sounds like that’s the model we trying to hit, especially having Nico and Boo and Gibson type problems. Not sure which model will be better.

Because we don’t have billionaires like TT who have given blank checks. We also have to worry about roster retention. Is Matthews or Stayley gonna see what Cam Coleman got in the portal and decide they want raises? Do other players do the same?

We know we need MAJOR help in defense. But now we need major help on the OL. Still gotta get a QB, RB and other positions. This is why this era of college football sucks. From my limited, and probably wrong scope, it seems we just don’t have the money unless some unknown billionaire shows up.

True but Vandy didn’t make the playoffs and got smoked by a mid B10 team. Indiana yes. They are anomaly IMO. I mean maybe that can work. But it seems that LSU is opening up then bank for Kiffin. Like you I don’t know which model will be better. If I had my choice, it would be to spend big. The best players usually go when the most money is.
