For the defense to not be that bad in year 5. Smart or Saban would have never fielded a team like that.

Most teams would gladly take 3 TDs and a FG over "3 TDs and 3 2 point conversions but they have to hit all 3 of those 2 point conversions because there's no margin for error"

Teams often only get 3-4 possessions in the final quarter of a game. If they got nothing there, they would have needed every drive in the last quarter to be a touchdown and hit every single 2 point conversion

This is the new reality of the portal and NIL. Every year is a rebuilding year. I just saw that one of our starting OL is hitting the portal. He can to us after leaving LSU. How does a coach design a team with this kind of **** going on?

I've been keeping up with the game and hadn't been able to catch it on TV until now. Now,its 31-3 as I walk in the room. A gold ol fashioned beatdown.

What they did NOT do...because it's completely impossible and literally nobody has ever done it in the history of college football... is spot 50 plus different players from HS that EVERY other college coach missed on...AND every recruiting service was dead wrong about giving them either a 3* or zero star rating. They aren't wizards. They don't have 100 guys to go out and scour every raggedy HS football game in America and spot talent that literally nobody else on Earth can see.

Those 2 things above are VERY different scenarios. That's why people point it out. Because it's completely misleading to act like Indy coaches took 50plus zero star kids and 25 three star kids and just coached them up to beat the wheels off Bamas 5* kids. That didn't happen. It never will. The majority of those players are juniors and seniors that played a couple years elsewhere before coming to IND.

I agree with what you are saying - I was really speaking to the others who seem to think that the current coaching staff took a bunch of lower rated players out of HS and coached them up. As you said that is not what happened here at all. They were good at finding portal players that would work in their system.

It is similar to Pavia and Joey who took different routes to get into the spotlight at more prestigious universities. They would have never been recruited to those schools out of HS.

I think we may be the only conference that doesn't have the "conference loyalty". All the others do so they think we do as well. Misconception.

Here in Tennessee many of us don't even have state loyalty. We like to see Vandy and Memphis lose too.
