Seven More Days Before George MacIntyre

Guess you’re not aware that he and his parents agreed for George to sit two yrs to build his body. Doug Matthews is a good friend of the family and commented on last Sunday’s show - big orange Sunday.
First I heard of this, strange a player does not want to play for 2 years. And if he really good we have him for one year actually playing time.

This year seems like it was about getting Joey A 200 yards per game.

In the meantime our backup qb’s never got any quality time on the field with the starting offense. What a waste of time. We had plenty of cupcake games to let those guys play for most part during those second halves. Even the Florida game comes in mind.

To be honest no one knows how good that. G Mac is or not, while placed under fire.

To the transfer ab thread:
Don’t really care about body stature. He is on par with Peyton’s during his freshman year as well.

It is time to have a good send off for JA, but it’s also time for a new beginning with clear for site.

Sure hope that coach Heupel has that for-site too, within giving G Mac plenty time with the staters during the bowl game.

It is also time to show if Heupel with Joey Halzle can really develop their our young. guns too.

lol, Time to see if GM is a baller on the last game of the 2025 season. We will be pushing that factor during the bowl game thread.
I don't know why people are so eager to push Joey out the door. He was an awesome QB in his first year in the system. If he gets that other year he will only be better. If he can and wants to stay I would welcome him. Besides if GM or Faizon are better they will have the chance to beat him out.

If Joey is back there will be no competing for the starting qb

I believe the reason GMac did not get into more cupcake games near the end is that there is a concerted effort to keep him under wraps.

Basically-if he gets major playing time vs Illinois and absolutely shreds them-his NIL just skyrocketed and half the teams in the country will be trying to steal him.

Many times in life, there is a reason you don't get what you want to see

My brain is really having a hard time with “You don’t get what you want to see”

An awesome QB and person. One of my all time favorites now.

I agree, I don't understand not getting him in a game and letting him run the offense like the starter. How will we ever be confident in starting a HS recruit if we only let them hand off? We need to make a concerted effort to allow the backups to run the real offense, see how they read the field and how they handle protections. Nico sat a year and still never looked like he could run the offense to me. Had problems seeing the field and finding the correct WR, he also had to SEE the WR open prior to throwing, never threw a guy open or anticipated knowing the route. The fact remains our QB's have done well but Hooker was not a CJH signing, coach has been here for 5 years now and we are still waiting to see a HS recruit lead the offense effectively. We continually hear he's a QB whisperer so let's see if he can develop a home grown. George M and Faizon B look capable of running the offense to me, let the best man win or stop paying big money to sign highly rated QB's if we are going portal everytime there's an opening. I realize there may be some risk but IMO that has been brought on by our failure to see what we had on the roster this year. Not a fan of just looking for upper classman to play, I want 3-4 years of a quality QB to grow with the program, only a fan of rentals in situations like this year where we had an unexpected situation. I am fully behind CJH but it's time for him to show development as well as the players, recognize where he could have done better and make adjustments. Maybe in the offseason spend some time with Ben Johnson and get some insight on how he sees play calling as well as QB development. Fire away.

While I agree, there's only so much you can do in practice, they need to be able to run the true offense in game settings whenever possible and CJH does not do that.
Hope you know development is the players responsibility also.

I agree, it does disappoint when backups are only getting game reps with 2nd and 3rd team. Let them rep with starters and see what they are capable of.

I was responding to the coach can't develop crowd.

Mac was the third string QB. There's not a scenario that exists where he was going to get reps with the first team offense in any game.

Welp, I guess they will just let Faizon move up to the first inline as the backup qb.
With the best case probabilities that he won’t be here more than three years, getting reps next year is not a bad thing.

The staff has the best assessment of GMAC’s capabilities to not only execute the game plans but hold up lighter than preferred. The discomfort of the element of the fanbase not in the know is not a great concern to them. Durability assessment is not a science. Could be the lankiest ALL SEC QB of all time.

It is reasonable to assume a QB will be added n the portal, but not to assume another drop in starter OR a depth piece is THEIR preferred plan and to assign failure if the faithless don’t get their own solution path fulfilled. Humility is NOT their strength.

Hooker wasn't developed until he got here. UT Hooker wasn't VT Hooker.

Credit goes to Hooker and staff.

Yeah, Huepel did that with Nico in the citrus bowl and the fan base had an orgy. If Joey doesn't get another year, it's his game. He's earned it.

I think you're gonna be disappointed. I don't think GMac will see the field next week barring injury or blowout.

Who said we're dying to see him play? Who's fault is it we know nothing at this point? Again, what is the point in paying top NIL dollars for someone we never intend to start in the first couple years? IF we can identify QB's that fit the system then we should give them every opportunity to prove the scouting correct, and to me right now that's a big IF. Five years and not a single recruited QB has played well in game situations, I realize we only have Nico to look at but that IS my point.
I dont understand why half of our fan base are dying for him to be the guy when they've never even seen him play.

check Ty Simpson's career line....

or Gunnar Stockton...
Yep & Eli & Arch Manning sat out 1st year and the plan was for Peyton to sit out but Jerry Colquitt hurt 1st game vs UCLA had season ending injury and then back-up Todd Helton got hurt and decided he'd give up football for a hall of fame baseball career rather than screwing that up in football. So Peyton was basically backed into playing early. Sometimes there is a plan for these athletes we are not privy to.
