All things STOCKS

Doing a little digging, Rivian accounts for less than 3% of EVs currently on the road in the US, and Tesla roughly 60%. So, your estimate is spot on.
I also work in a major metropolitan area (🤮) so I'd say I see more than the average person.

*I'd say I see as many Polestars** as Rivians

**who I thought was no longer in business

Other than name, reputation, and familiarity, Tesla also has entry M3 and MY pricing in the $30k's, while Rivian's two models start near $80k (and go well over $100k in the faster/longer range trims). So, they are limited to a fairly exclusive price market.

That's been the problem with the F-150 "Lightning" and the Silverado EV (LOL). The base trucks cost as much as my '23 High Country did.

That and their customer base has largely been brainwashed against EVs.....

Cost + brainwashing + lack of EV infrastructure = Ford having 19.5B writedown

Chevy actually made an affordable EV (granted, with some teething issues), and are at least bringing it back.

I had a Bolt (EUV), and it was a great economical EV (I even had heated and ventilated seats). Minus GM (the dumb b**ch running it) getting rid of Apple Car play (in all their EVs), I'd be interested in a new one.

***also, Ford and GM can now use Tesla charging stations.

They look nice, but it's a niche vehicle, and they won't last. Just IMO of course.

Outside of Tesla, EVs just aren't THAT popular (even for GM, Ford, etc).

For every Rivian or Lucid I see, I see 20+ Teslas if not more.
Rivian makes the Amazon delivery trucks that are everywhere. I asked a driver who was dropping off a package at our house and he said the trucks are incredibly good, battery easily lasts all day.

BREAKING: R.I.P. Ford F-150 Lightning EV

Buried in a pile of broader EV strategy updates, Ford confirmed the Lightning pickup will not make it to 2026.

Instead, Ford plans to bring back a next-gen Lightning built as an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV).

In the meantime, Ford is diverting workers to support gas-powered and hybrid F-150s.

And will take a ~$19.5B write-off.

Bottom line: the focus is shifting away from big EV bets and toward hybrids, but consumers and the market deliver the final verdict.

Inflation report came in cooler than expected so should see green today.

Call me a bit skeptical on the numbers, but guess time will tell.

Unreliable, because of the Govt shutdown. December numbers might be interesting.
My comment was about the Fed. The Fed's forecasts of inflation rates have been absolutely atrocious (and politically driven IMO) for YEARS. That has absolutely nothing to due with the government shutdown or today's inflation readings.

The numbers the fed uses from Oct and Nov that might not be reliable because of the shutdown. Some information was not received or was distorted.
The fed's forecast of of inflation rates relied on incomplete or distorted information.

What are you talking about? The actual published inflation rates today relied on incomplete or distorted information. That is NOT a Fed Forecast of inflation rates, and that is NOT what I am talking about.

I loved the look of the Fisker Karma back in the early 2010s. They were about 15 years too early, and eventually went bankrupt. I think I heard they are attempting a comeback with an SUV line.
It reminds me a little too much of the revamped Thunderbird.

I'm admittedly not a sports car guy. I like rugged adventure aesthetics.
