I’m sure most don’t care at all about the awards that Herbstreit gives out, but Vols football won for Best Game Operations! Even as a rival, I can’t say I disagree. I’ve never been fortunate enough to attend a game at Neyland, but it certainly looks like a great atmosphere from my TV room!

For health reasons I’ve gotten to where I prefer watching the games at home rather than at the stadium, but I would love to experience Neyland once. If I get the chance and my health allows it, I’m going to someday.

You should give it a shot.

I’ve never been to Sanford, and I’d like to give it a go as well.

To me Sanford is awesome, obviously I’m a little biased as I’ve had many good times there. It holds approximately 93,000 so it’s not as big as Neyland, but it is definitely a great college football atmosphere.

I’ve heard stories of GA fans not treating visiting fans as they should, but in my experience it’s quite the opposite. In my experience you are much more likely to meet Dawg fans that will invite you to tailgate with them and talk football respectfully and playfully. In fact, I would say that the majority of UGA fans you might run across there would be very likely to put the disrespectful Dawg fans in their place.

Of course we all have those ignorant fans or perhaps young rowdies that haven’t learned how to enjoy their alcohol responsibly, but I sincerely think that a majority of my Dawg brethren would be very inviting, respectful, and some even go out of their way to help rivals have a good and memorable time at Sanford. I would highly recommend visiting if you have the chance.

Sanford sucks. It's MID tier SEC (and quiet for 93,000).

Yes, I've been. Twice.

**LOL f'n L. It's the ONLY away experience I've had with chit fans (BOTH times). There's a difference with friendly ribbing, but y'all are azzholes.

Whatever guy, I’m sorry if you had bad experiences at Sanford. I’m betting that if you were treated badly or disrespectfully it was very likely a reaction to the disrespectful attitude and character that you have just shown in the above post. If that isn’t the case, then I do sincerely apologize for the rest of us. Most of us aren’t azzholes.

Also, to say Sanford is MID tier is laughable and ignorant.

If wearing orange is disrespectful, than yes, I am guilty. I was immediately told f*** you after parking my first trip (and barked at).

I've been to many away games, UGA is the ONLY time I've felt fans were out of line.

I was more concerned about UF than UGA. I'd go to UF 10x before I'd ever return to Sanford*.

*outside of Athens being better than Gainesville, I will give you that.

Here is my story. BIL got 4 tickets at Georgia back in the 90s. We are walking down the street WAY before kickoff. We are all decked out in orange, and see a man walking down the other side of the street. He is as wide as he is tall, short but VERY stocky. Wearing the high waisted coaching shorts, long tube socks.... looks like he just walked out of the coaches office at Georgia. Bald as an egg. Gave Erk Russell vibes. Dude crosses FOUR LANES when he sees us, running toward us. Scared me to death. We stopped, he stopped right in front of us. He broke down, BARKING at the four of us. Then, he grinned, said "yall have a good time today", then ran back across four lanes again and went on his merry way. I'll never forget it.

Disagree. It’s a nice stadium where home field is true advantage.

All fan bases have idiots who treat others like scum - incl, TN fans.

I didn’t say it’s not nice (just that it sucks, which it does compared to Neyland). It’s a cute stadium.

I did said it’s quiet for 93K.

I actually quite enjoyed Athens outside of the incidents. It’s a cool LITTLE town

As said, I am sincerely sorry that you had bad experiences at Sanford. I do apologize for the rest of us. If you where treated as such, I can’t blame your feelings.

I haven’t been able to attend any games since Kirby has been the coach. While that may seem odd, it’s only bc my health makes it difficult. Anyway, I’m wondering if our recent success has brought out the worst fans or maybe the worst in some of our fans? Either way it’s not acceptable. I can understand a little barking, even though it’s kinda silly, but to treat visiting rivals with contempt is not acceptable. I will admit, I’m only a fan of 1 Dawg forum, and primarily bc the recent success has brought out so many fans that know nothing about football, they are the epitome of fair weather fans and they will be gone as soon as we have a bad or difficult season. These type of fans get out of line on a forum, so it’s certainly not a stretch to think they would be disrespectful on Gameday. I’ve no time or patience for such fans.

Like said, in my experience you’d be much more likely to be invited to tailgate than treated badly. I do promise you that a majority of us are not azzholes, but I do understand your feelings after being treated so harshly.

I get it. Some of the recent success probably plays a part.

Also, I don’t really let it detract from the experience other than talking chit. *We all have “those“ fans.

I really enjoyed Athens. If I wasn’t a TN fan, I’m sure it’d be much better lol.

I do stand by my statement that it is “relatively” quiet though. The one end zone being open hurts the acoustics

I’ve often thought that the open end zone does take away from the loudness of the stadium. I’m positive it’s not going to get as loud as Neyland can sometimes get, but it’s loud enough to have impact!

I do recall a few years back when Erik Ainge stated that Sanford wasn’t that loud and not at all intimidating. During the following game there were quite a few false start penalties and confusion at the LOS. I remember some TN fans being upset with Ainge for making those comments.😂 So while not as loud as Neyland, it can get loud enough to make a difference.

Only been there once about 10 years ago or so but it was a good experience. Nice stadium and Athens is a nice college town.

I have been a couple of times. Most telling was the Dobbs-to-Jennings win. We were sitting on the UGA side and could not see the actual play, but seeing the UT fans erupt told us we had won. But here's the kicker. The moment we scored the scoreboard went black. It was like the UGA admin was NOT going to let a UT fan grab a photo of the scoreboard and share on social media. Very low class in my book. Of course it was quieter than a church walking to the car without that obnoxious woofing. Dear friend is a UT fan but few things I hate more than that university and none of it has to do with sports.

I attended the 1980 Georgia game, when Herschel made his debut. As we were walking back along Cumberland, two Georgia fans were heckling just about every Tennessee fan that came into earshot.

My brother and I were accompanied by another Tennessee fan who was about 6-5, 300 lbs. (or more). As we approached the Bulldog duo, their chatter ceased. My brother overheard their conversation after we passed. One said to the other, “Aren’t you going to say anything to that guy?” His companion retorted, “**** no. That big SOB already looks ******.
