He believes, like I do, that Peyton Lewis is a flight risk. Said it was just his opinion and not based on anything he's heard. So, QB and RB are probably in his theoretical number. He and Hubbs weren't sure whether the QB would be a frontline starter type or depth piece, but that TN would take one.Total for what AP was saying - again tho, this is something AP wouldn’t know. Was wrong about portal strategy last year.
But 8-9 total. What do we really need on offense? 1 qb?

Outside of that, I could see a depth blocking TE whose receiving skills are either underutilized or teachable (think Kits out of Bama). We have Davis, JVD, and Brahme. Cole Harrison is a likely transfer and Luca Wolf is a pretty significant project.
Maybe an OL if Heard goes pro.
The rest would be on the defensive side. Two Safeties (minimum), a depth CB, a couple interior DL, a LB if Carter goes pro.
RB. QB. Maybe TE/OT depending on who portals.
They've got to get a portal RB. Lewis was mediocre. The other guys are unproven and weren't highly rated anyways. And we are losing Star and had no RB in the recruiting cycle. It was speculated months ago that if we whiffed on Hiter then we would be taking a portal RB.Interested to see if they even go RB. TE room looks good already so as long as Brame and VD stay, why go there.
OT question - if Heard leaves would Osenda not be penciled in to RT and Sanders LT? Nobody talks about Osenda like the did Sanders coming in (“he’ll start immediately”) despite being another 5* OT. I’m not a film guru. Does he need time?
Guess also Perry could play RT.
The TE room roster will depend on outlook for Brame. There is some possibility that he moves to the slot fulltime. Osenda does not appear to be a day 1 contributor. He will definitely need development.Interested to see if they even go RB. TE room looks good already so as long as Brame and VD stay, why go there.

I addressed the TE issue in my earlier post you responded to. I think the issue is that Davis and Brahme are both more receiving TEs. JVD is a solid blocking TE. Wolf is a project. Harrison is a likely transfer. I think a Kitselman-type TE is maybe something they'd consider. An undervalued blocking TE that is either underutilized as a reciever, or needs that part of his game developed.Interested to see if they even go RB. TE is more just a feeling. We've added a portal TE almost every year it seems like.
I don't think we'll be in the market for a starting OT necessarily if Heard leaves. But I do think we'd be looking for someone to come in and compete. Perry and Sanders would probably be the primary plan. But the depth behind them is a bit concerning.
I wouldn't say it means nothing, necessarily. It's an opinion, by AP's own admission, but I put more stock in his informed opinion than I would in my own or anyone else on a messageboard. He's around the program and has more insight than any of us, so if he is developing an opinion on an issue, it is far more informed and rooted in reality than most, wouldn't you agree? Not saying we won’t take a RB but speculation from VQ guys means nothing.
But if someone leaves I would think they def get a RB no matter what.

Fair enough. I disagree, but I think we may be talking about two different things. You seem focused solely on his opinion of portal strategy while I'm referring more to his opinion of the pulse of the program as a whole, which of course would encompass portal strategy. I believe he has a more informed opinion, being that his livelihood is fixed around it, than the average Joe while also recognizing he isn't the infallible end-all be-all. I can understand if you disagree, thoughMy stance on this has never changed.
There are things he knows and things he doesn’t.
Portal strategy before the portal even opens falls under things he doesn’t. So no, his opinion on this topic doesn’t mean more to me than any random poster’s here.
See WR strategy last cycle.

Possibly a guard. Depends on what some guys do. Possibly a TE if either of the freshmen decided to portal. Not sure if they'll look for a RB or not. Guess that might also depend on if someone decides to leave. QB is the only certainty on that side of the ball.Total for what AP was saying - again tho, this is something AP wouldn’t know. Yes, sir. All good. All good brother![]()
I just don’t think he, or any of them over at VQ, have the sources they used to. Unless it’s recruiting where they hear directly from a recruit or it’s deep in the process in which case they are very plugged in.
I still listen to all the pods so this isn’t anti- VQ or anything like that.
totally agree about RB. we really need a homerun hitter RB in the room and let Bishop be RB1b.They've got to get a portal RB. Lewis was mediocre.
