Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

It's a public state ran school where the students are paying to attend...now if we're talking about who earns scholarships and such sure, best and brightest.

But if an in-state kid meets the admission requirements and that's where they want to go it's crazy to think they're being turned away.

Also seems like BS if they have an In-State Guaranteed Admission Policy...

If they meet those requirements, they get in.

Do you think all NC kids get into chapel hill? Or all Texas kids get into Austin? Historically, the smartest kids in TN did not go to UT, unless it was a financial decision. The tide is turning and that’s a good thing. My opinion.

10% of 20 kids is the top 2...

I graduated from a small school, so small they decided class rank by total grade average (not GPA, we had so many with 4.0s) so the top 2 would be separated by tenths of a point...

So now our small school gets punished because even though 10 kids meet the requirements and have 4.0 GPAs only 2 or 3 are in the 10% because of how small the class size is.

So basically people who could change the world aren’t getting a fair shake at scholarships to the school they want to attend?…seems counter productive but yet we let people like Paul finebaum in..crazy🫩🙄

This is bad especially for public universities
As the comments say, they will demand a profit or a bailout if the program does turn a profit .
Yeah, I think that’s getting overlooked in the excitement of such a big dollar amount. PE firms exist for ONE REASON ONLY! They don’t give a hoot about your school, or traditions, or what bowl you might go to, or whether you beat your heated rival. They are not even like an adidas or nike who actually has related interests in the sport.
Instead, They will literally have a bean counter savagely studying the bottom line whose only goal is maximizing profit and increasing efficiency. And once they’ve squeezed all the juice they can, they will move on to the next thing and will not care what they have done to the program or university.

I really, really hope this is a failed anomaly and serves as a warning to others; and not the trend that takes over

My frustration is just that UTK is already the most expensive in-state public school for tuition and fees. And they try to promote a 'guaranteed' in-state policy despite requirements basically restricting the vast majority of HS to only having 2 or 3 graduating seniors even eligible per the guidelines.

That's not a guarantee at all...
