Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

I detest private equitey, especially in Health Care and Real Estate.
Completely agree but private equity ruins every company they touch. Apparently, P.E. firms are behind these companies that are injecting water into meat in order to get more per lb of meat. They are crooks and should be treated as monopolies and broken up.

I worked for a company that was bought out by one and it was eye opening. They treat you well on the front end then expose themselves for what they are. They are a very destructive group for employees and many companies as a whole.

I don't think the SEC is that tough...

at Arkansas
at Florida
at Bama
at Kentucky
at Vanderbilt

Those could all be losses...although I'm not sure Kentucky, Florida or Vandy are that good. But this is a season we will for sure need to win at TBA and that'll start Tuesday night with Louisville coming to town.
Its not that the conference is great, its more about how rough we have looked.

1975 got a score of 21 ACT GPA B
Back then that was good enough for everyone except Ivy schools and Stanford. If I’m not mis-remembering UT was 18? Memphis State 12👀
I came to UTK in '78. I remember an 18 was the standard for admittance back then. Nowadays, UTK admissions and leadership want really high GPAs and test scores, so they can publicly report how high they are for each incoming freshman class. It hurts great in-state kids who have to start elsewhere with hopes of transferring to UTK later. We have friends in-state whose kids were not admitted with 3.5 - 4.0 GPAs and high test scores.

Overreaction IMO.

We traveled to Vegas, played a game at 1pm on 11-24, dominated Rutgers. Then next night at 6pm we knock off 3rd ranked Houston in a physical game. Next night on 26th we fade in the final 12 minutes and Kansas sinks their FTs (took 8 more than us too). We hit more FGs than them 26 to 24 and hit the same amount of 3s...lost it at the line...both because they got to the line and because we weren't getting there.

We follow that up with travel back from Vegas brief Thanksgiving break (team likely got a day of practice, if that) then travel to Syracuse for a 7pm game on Dec 2nd...another battle of a game one where we also hit more FGs than them, but lost it at the FT line (shot just 53%).

So those 2 losses were very obviously related to fatigue... Cade playing hurt, Burg missed most of fall camp...and just too many minutes for Ament/Ja'Kobi.

Illinois was a rough one but we only had 4 days to travel back from Syracuse, get in some sort of practice then travel to Nashville to play them and that game wasn't a FT game, we just flat out sucked shooting it...at all 3 levels

I think Louisville game is going to show us a lot...team has 10 days from that Illinois game to Louisville, it's at home, and there is plenty of rest and easier games between Louisville and the trip to Arkansas on 1-3 to open up league play. So if they look rough Tuesday night then 20-11 will make sense....

? This is what you want. You want your flagship university to attract the best and brightest in the state. That is the goal and we are getting there.

Thankfully, it’s not hard at all being a transfer student.

Freshman definitely have it worse. Sucks that it’s that strict now.

It's a public state ran school where the students are paying to attend...now if we're talking about who earns scholarships and such sure, best and brightest.

But if an in-state kid meets the admission requirements and that's where they want to go it's crazy to think they're being turned away.

Also seems like BS if they have an In-State Guaranteed Admission Policy...
