Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

When “A Charlie Brown Christmas” first aired on December 9, 1965, TV executives—and even some of the show’s creators—were convinced it was going to flop.
"Peanuts," the comic strip created by Charles Schulz, was incredibly popular. Featuring beloved characters such as the hapless Charlie Brown and his dog Snoopy, the franchise set especially high expectations for the TV special.

But Charlie Brown’s animated debut was unlike anything seen on television at the time.

The special broke several cartoon conventions of the era. It hired actual kids as voice actors, featured a spare jazz soundtrack and did not include a laugh track. Most controversial of all, it was a children's Christmas special featuring a lengthy quote from the Bible.

A week before its airdate, CBS held a test screening of “A Charlie Brown Christmas” for executives.
“The general reaction was one of disappointment,” said former CBS executive Fred Silverman in the documentary The Making of "A Charlie Brown Christmas" (2015). “There were specific negative comments about the music, the piano music, some of the voicing, which sounded kind of amateurish.”

Even the special’s lead producer and co-creator, Lee Mendelson, feared that it would not only bomb, but possibly take down "Peanuts" with it. Instead, more than 15 million American households tuned in for its premiere—half of all TV viewers at the time. “A Charlie Brown Christmas” went on to win awards and become a beloved holiday classic.

I'd like to think the Heisman campaign will take character into the decision. I mean, I know that didn't prevent Manziel from winning but he was a legit superstar.

Pavia is temu Manziel at best. But again I'm hoping they take into consideration what kind of an ambassador they would have - and see that Pavia and his entire bloodline are douchebags.

Joe Thiesman on TV whining about ND getting left out. Has that typical arrogant ND attitude of how dare you question us? Make them join a conference or be left out every year.
I read yesterday why ND isnt in a conference (dates back to early 1900s anti-Catholic ideology in the mid-west.)
I see why then, but it's not 1925.......its 2025

join a freaking conference.

Plus........anyone who changes his name to try and win the Heisman is a douche anyway.

My daughter got accepted to UT officially. Not that I had any doubts about it, but she was nervous. If she can't get in to UT with a 34 ACT and a 4.5 GPA, then I am not sure how some of you morans made it.
We hit 18 on ACT's and held the 2.0 GPA!

Times they are a changing. Over half my nephews graduating class at CAK is attending UT.

Edit: I didn't make an 18😬

The Toyoto soccer field, here in Frisco is undergoing a major renovation with regard to seating expansion and I believe it has to do with the World Cup next summer.

The stadium is where FC Dallas plays their games. Someone in Frisco is thinking big time sports

Dallas Cowboys headquarters and practice field
PGA of America headquarters
World Cup soccer
Frisco Roughriders Baseball
