In case this ain't been covered...

Heupel - Walters connection:

Oklahoma - in 2012, Heupel was Co-OC and Walters was graduate assistant.

Mizzou - 2016 and 2017, Heupel was OC and Walters was Co-DC

Walters was a Barry Odom disciple. Started on Odom's staff at Memphis then followed him to Pinkel's staff at Mizzou. Was promoted when Odom was named HC. When Odom was fired, Walters was retained as DC at Mizzou under Drink, before going to Illinois where he was a Broyles Award finalist with a Top 3 defense under Bielema.

Failed HC stint at Purdue, then Washington's DC.

1) Why would you go to coach for a dead man walking?

2) Why would you join said dead man walking who happens to be the biggest douche bag ever Shane Beamer?

3) He only scored 19 on Tim Banks as Arkansas OC last year🥱

I mean idk bro..still a nice grab for a “dead man walking” all we got was Dave clawson😭🤣🤣

I am pro inge

He requires a different type of LB he will actually have next year
Yup - he's using the other guy's players. He deserves the opportunity to recruit, develop and use his own since he has experienced success coaching the position for many years as long as it fits the DC's system/schemes.

Happy Tuesday

December 9, 2025: Keep pressing on until you achieve breakthrough. Seek the truth and pursue it. There are things you need to do and steps you need to take as you progress. God will make a way where there seems to be no way. Put your trust in the Lord. The Lord is with you always. Psalm 46:1-2 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea.

Wasn't that on DWs time? Biggest black mark if it is
Pensky never wanted to be here. DW wasnt given an opportunity to counter. Pensky was at Maryland when we offered him back around 2013/2014 (irrc). He asked Maryland for a raise and their AD refused. A wealthy alumni donor who's daughter was the top recruit in MD's class and from College Park offered a huge donation to cover the raise. AD still refused. So Pensky and his entire recruiting class, including the legacy, went to Tennessee.

He then spent 10 years basically refusing to recruit TN girls, who went to other SEC and ACC schools. When FSU called after Vols finally made a big postseason run (on the backs of current HC - then asst coach - recruiting the likes of Bunny Shaw) he bolted immediately. We retained Joe Kirt.
