Hypothetically, if not CJH, then who?

Every team has injuries unfortunately. Banks D has been awful 4/5 years. We call that a pattern. And you’re right, they put together a great year. All while averaging 49th in recruiting over the past 4 years. Guess where we fall in those 4 years? 14th. They are doing much more with less and we’re doing much less with more.

That is the reflection of coaching and development. Heaven forbid we want those results. Shame on us. We should jyst “pound rocks” as you say.
No, not every team has season ending injuries to their starting CBs. There's a reason they are paid more than most positions.

You harp on coaching and development as if you have first hand experience with it. I would say the freshman Redmond developed rather well over the course of his freshman season at CB

You’re right. Some teams have worse injuries. QB, RB to name a few. Injuries come with sports unfortunately.

You’re constantly hung up on this weird, silly fantasy that just because someone doesn’t hold a job in the field, they may not know the basics. I’m no mechanic Bernard, I can’t swap your engine. But I can change your tire and your oil. I can even change a few spark plugs if needed. I’m no doctor but I can apply a band aid, bandage, or even tourniquet if needed. I’m no 5 star chef but can manage to fire up the grill and make a good burger or steak. Usually your logic is decently solid. Thus “you don’t know shat bc you’ve never coached” bit is rather moronic.

I own a business with nearly 60 employees. I know a thing or two about the importance of “development”. You’re right, Redmond has been great, and I’d bet he ends up being a huge talent here that gets drafted. Possibly half him just being a stand out obviously/hopefully also due to coaching development.

I can confidentially tell you we are in no way developing in a manner like Vandy who has a bunch of 3 stars making our players look silly.

I’m as pissed as the next guy, frankly this was
the worst of the 4 defeats we had this year. It’s bad to loose anytime, but to loose 3 at home this year?

Objectively, if CJH falls on his ass next year. I’m talking 3-4-5 wins, if a change is made, who is out there who would be interested? Are there any coaches who played at UT during the glory days who would be motivated by love of VFL and not just dollars? Frankly I don’t know of any.
Donald Trump. MATA. 🤣🤣🤣

No, let's just keep Josh.

12 game regular seasons started half way through Fulmer's tenure for comparison purposes. From that point in 2002, UT has EXACTLY 4 double digit win seasons in 23 years. 17 or 18 straight without a double digit win season. One of those 4 double digit seasons belongs to CJH.

I think it would help a lot of people here to realize that we have never been today's OSU, Bama, or UGA since Neyland's 3rd tour as coach. Where we are right now with CJH is as good as any place we've been before or since Fulmer. Period. Maybe equal to Battle and Dickey who were way way better than Majors, but not worse.
I think more of us realize than people think. I realize Tn isn’t Alabama or OSU and won’t be in the natty hunt every year.

But at this level and with UT resources, it’s not to much to ask to play clean, disciplined football and be in the playoff hunt most years. Oh and to not get beat by Vandy.

There's a group of regulars that see it this way. And have reasonable outlook, wishes, and reactions. As myself. Then there's all the others. And there's alot of them.

IMO, had we not James Franklin'd Fulmer at the time, and had a better coaching transition when it became time, we just might be discussing UT in the same tier as UGA, AL, and OSU today. We were on our way. And we were ahead of the Bama & GA of the time.

No doubt we are still feeling the effects of botching that exit. I think it was time for him to go, but we definitely did everything we could to screw up the way it happened.

You shouldn't be so confident about that. Most of Vandy's impact players were already developed when they got to Nashville. Those college grads had already played 3 and 4 years somewhere else.

For the most part I’ll agree there. They nailed it in the portal. With that said, we either lacked in development or lacked in the portal, or both. Hopefully we hit it harder for the upcoming season. That signing class plus some heavy hitting portal adds could potentially make for an interesting year next year.

Agree with this. It's hard to take the results of one season and draw a bunch of absolute conclusions as to what some team is doing or not doing related to sustainable success. Vandy just had their best season in modern history. To think the model they're utilizing is going to produce similar results annually just isn't being realistic

I don’t know. I think it’s proving to be the way forward. Last year everyone here said the same about Ole Miss and the portal. “He put all his chips in on the portal, if it doesn’t work this year they’re screwed cause they have no one next year”. Then Lane again goes to the portal and here they are staring at the playoffs once again.

They are firmly in this year. They were good last year too, but weren't good enough for the CFP.

The Ignore button is your friend. Makes it a whole lot more enjoyable if you don’t subject yourself to the ignorance of these tools.
Agree. I long for the day these "tool" (self proclaimed VFL's) out themselves not from behind the keyboard and they are called out in public to their faces as frauds.

And if you are enamored by what Kiffin is doing then you can always dust off your Tigas hat

You’re such a child. I’m sure you’re a gem to be around. Anything you can do to make yourself miserable. It’s amusing actually.

It’s much less about Kiffin and more about the process. He just happened to be the one at the school raiding the portal. But since you bring it up, yes he has proven 2 years in a row just how important the portal is. In this still early portal process era you better believe other programs are taking note of what’s working/not working for each program in the portal realm.

Thanks Lane but really you can leave now. No one wants to hear the constant drivel from posters like you. If you have to bi..h and complain about everything just do us a favor and turn in your (alleged) VFL card and POUND ROCKS
