Doesn't make any sense since in 3 weeks he turns 18 and could just sign with Ohio State regardless of what anyone in his family wants to do.

Exactly. Why take an offer away from someone else that wants to play for Tennessee. Just don't sign during the early signing period. Wait until your not a juvenile any longer and do what you want to do.
