Ballad of a Small Time Player was not what I was expecting. Colin Farrell acted his ass off and Tilda Swinton is at her quirky weird best but its a lot darker than how it is being billed. Still worth a watch. 7/10

Started Marines. I would guess that those with actual military service will hate it and civilians will find it enjoyable.

The Beast in Me wasn’t as good as I thought it would be considering the cast. Felt like it tried too hard in parts, and also felt dumbed down. I don’t need flashbacks to things that happened literally 10 minutes ago to spell out what happened.

Visually Jibaro is nothing short of stunning but it's not one of my favorite stories. (Which in no way is a slight, it's just not a personal favorite)

While a bit tropey I like Beyond the Aquila Rift as well as The Witness, Bad Travelling and The Secret War.

The "mini" shorts and the 3 Robot bits are much less serious but funny.

Watched Train Dreams this weekend. Just stunningly beautiful but a real gut punch of a movie. Highly recommend.

I felt like it lacked something. My favorite moments were always the character interactions and dialogue. This season they feel more distant from each other emotionally, which I understand is the tone of the season, but it kind of negates everything I love about the show. A couple clever one liners that I enjoyed so far, though.
the reveal for Will was an awesome moment.

I finished episode 4 last night. My only complaint is I wish there were more scenes with the entire cast of characters together. We had one scene in the first episode with everyone, minus Max.

Now with the conclusion of episode 4, all of the characters are spread out again in three different settings.

Isn’t that life? As you grow up, your friendships change. The show is following life as it really happens.

I've kinda hate-watched Stranger Things over the years. I really do like the show, but it's also very easy for me to fall into nitpicking (casting choices, loose ends in writing, etc.). I was not hate-watching these 4 episodes at all (except denigrating Will a lot, which is fun). It's been awesome.

That's understandable...
The Duffer Brothers are great at foreshadowing, though.

I loved it, but went through all the emotions watching it. It's the kind of movie that would have been one of the dozen or so VHS's on my Grandpa's shelf (Lonesome Dove, The Great Escape, a documentary about Amazing Grace, etc.).
