I am thrilled with coach Heupel's comments about staying at Tennessee. I have realized from day one that Heupel chooses his words carefully. He typically doesn't say much of anything and stays on script. There are only two times I can remember this not happening. One was the infamous mic turn incident following the loss to Georgia 2024. The second was Sunday dispelling the rumors of him leaving. His direct comment posted below are what makes me most excited.
"I wouldn't want low expectations. That's part of why I want to be here. We'll win big."
This is a covenant not a comment. I think things will be changing on Rocky Top. Sometimes a loss is the best thing for you. Vandy shook this program up. It starts today on signing day, and we've seen some momentum since the loss. It will continue in the portal and at coaching conventions.
I believe him. He's the underdog. He's the under recruited kid that played for championships and almost won a Heisman. We're growing in his image. Once coach learns to not just take the underdog to the next level (Hooker, Milton, Aguilar), but the uber talented (Iamaleava, Macintyre, Brandon), we will win big.
