I feel like everything has fallen apart since the Adidas deal. Lost our baseball coach, missed a fg to beat uga, didn't beat any ranked teams in football, lost to little brother.

I wasn't opposed to Nike but I'm starting to wonder....

Has little to nothing to do with any of those. Adidas gave us more ammo to land Keyes and an elite olineman this year. May have happened anyways but kind of pushed it over the fence. We would’ve had less money to push towards nil if we stuck with Nike.

The talent fee helps to cover the revenue sharing bill, not the outside NIL.

Part of the reported adidas number is actually a promise from adidas to spend on third-party NIL contracts directly between adidas and student-athletes.

As I posted previously ...

Kirby Smart and Chip Kelly have both said nobody will outbid Oregon if they want a player bad enough. That's probably correct since Phil Knight ($44 billion) is an avid booster and Steve Ballmer's ($118 billion) wife was an Oregon cheerleader and is on the school's board of trustees. Also Dan Lanning said he would not consider leaving for another school. When asked to elaborate he said "the grass is greener here".

Then there's Michigan and Larry Ellison ( $250 billion) who's girlfriend/wife is a big Michigan fan and who allegedly pushed him to donate a significant sum to them last year.

There are many schools with wealthier alums than UT but a lot of those that might support their schools in other ways won't contribute to their athletic programs which is their prerogative..... and honestly the way it should be.

If Harvard alums wanted to buy the best football team available they probably could do so.

Someone asked Stephen Jones why Jerry didn't contribute to the Arkansas NIL fund. His answer was that the Cowboys had enough issues to keep him busy without thinking about college NIL funds. He also said the NFL has rules for owners concerning things like buying players for any college.

I know that is different than Nike but it's just an illustration of how some organizations can, and cannot, participate in NIL. The only thing different in player payments is that it's not under the table anymore. Wild, wild west

Right, but also White didn't drive a hard bargain with Nike. I feel that he just took the first offer from Adidas. Like while we get an uptick in pay, Penn State is the one who really came out on top with their Adidas deal.

I just know that I will be in Knoxville when the clearance weekend goes down at the store with all the discontinued Nike stuff that gets all dumped before day 1 of back at Adidas.

Penn State announced a better deal with Adidas and now they can’t find a coach. PSU has the number 130th ranked recruiting class..

I was with a friend near the end zone when Brazzel housed the bomb Saturday. A 2 play drive. As we were lining up for the field goal, I told him "Watch out OL get hurt right here". Sure enough he laid there. My buddy looked at me like I was clairvoyant for a second. 😂

It didn't help ... and it's dishonorable IMHO.
