'26 TN QB Jared Curtis (Vanderbilt commit)

Would be so funny if he flipped back to Georgia now.
UGA might have just leaked it in retaliation. Can't fault a kid for making a decision with his heart instead of his wallet. But it certainly throws a wrench into things when you've invested so much into 1 QB and now you're left with basically no QB in this class.

I also heard that they are making exceptions to the high academic requirements for football players, so they can now get players that wouldn’t traditionally be eligible for admission at Vanderbilt.
This has pretty much been in effect for the past 60 years. Go to Peabody, play sports at Vanderbilt.

I thought the same thing.

But this type of recruiting or spending, sends a big message to the rest of the SEC, especially coming from VU.
For all we know they shot their 50 to 75% of their NIL for him. If that's the case they can't afford to stack or keep much talent around him. So much unknown but honestly it's not something I'd get worried about at this point.

Their OC will likely be offered a head coaching gig somewhere and the most responsible for Vandy's run will be gone. It's a big deal for Vandy but not much else.

he said like 30 minutes ago he never flipped to vandy lol

He’s just trying to build up suspense because someone stole his moment. He’s still going to Vandy. Gotta say though, don’t think I’ve ever recalled a high school putting out an official press release about a student athlete? This seems a bit much.

I wonder why you think he’s getting paid less at Vandy than in Athens. He may be (I have no idea), but I’m curious about your information/opinion.

Curtis was going to push somebody out of the QB room if he signed. All three QBs on the roster in Athens are set to return in 2026. I doubt they prioritize replacing him in this class or in the portal—though next year takes on added importance.

UGA's NIL is substantially better than Vandy's for one. I suppose Vandy could be blowing a large chunk of their budget on him. That's certainly possible.

But, it's more likely the hometown kid has been swayed by Lea, the Vandy/Pavia hype this year, and likely being promised to start right away.

Hometown matters and money matters—but I think you’re right that playing right away matters maybe the most. Whether that’s a promise or just Curtis playing the odds, he’s got a much clearer path to play as a freshman in Nashville.
