Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Thats not what I'm addressing.

We play unproven guys all the time. Redmond for example. Perlotte earned his spot on the field the second half of the season.

Those guys earn it in practice.

What annoys me is the "this guy who hasn't played a meaningful down is significantly better than the starter who's been here for 3 years" argument.

Or seeing Perlotte play well and complain that he wasn't playing sooner. He wasn't playing sooner because he clearly still had the Xs and Os to figure out.

The talent of the young guys isn't the problem, it’s how long it takes them to 1. Learn the game/scheme and/or 2. Have a body that's physically ready to handle this level.
Perlotte isn’t really playing now, though.

How many series did he play vs Vandy? How did he look?

Yet we continue to send Telander and the likes of Ben f’n Bolton out there. Therein lay a good bit of the frustration.

Heather Dinich was interviewed about the prospect of dropping Ole Miss and it’s not a matter of whether they would drop completely out as much it is whether they’d drop a couple of spots to lose home field advantage.
To give it to Bama, I wouldn’t doubt.

The sky’s the limit for special exceptions and ad hoc manipulations for Bama. There would be a massive audience to see that game in Oxford. Just thought I’d mention that fact before we are told the opposite.

Basically, it means we're not taking the bad boys that a team needs

I didn't say it was a good program; it's just one of their recruiting profiles that they look for in a recruit
So guys like Trey Smith are bad boys? He seems like a solid guy, but obviously he's too good to be be a good guy.

Perlotte plays fast but sometimes either blows his assignment or improvises. Telander, on the other hand, is more likely to be in the right spot but doesn’t have the speed to run things down. I like Perlotte’s style and his ceiling is all-SEC, but I also understand why Telander is getting so many snaps.
