Saw a clip of Heupel's press conference on Instagram...the comment section was a bloodbath. There are MANY out there wanting it. Some of the most ridiculous sh!t I have ever seen in my life.Who is wanting that?
Are people on twitter posting it?
That’s crazy. I haven’t seen one person in the forum ask for a coaching change except for the defensive staff. So that must be who you’re referring too.
I’ll let Heupel figure it out but Joey is the more proven commodity at this point. We really won’t know about the other guys until the lights come on. Even Heupel won’t truly know? I would think the young guys certainly have more potential but that’s all it is at this time. To many 5 star practice warriors for this old man to get excited about until I see it translated when the bullets are flying. I tend to think it will be difficult for either of the pups to match Joey statistically but that doesn’t mean it won’t be better. I tend to think Joey isn’t an option anyway and the real tell will be if we aggressively go after a good quarterback in the portal. Will be interesting to watch it play out.Love Joey and all his yards and beautiful deep balls, but he still struggled with intermediate passes and turnovers. He likely cost us the OU and Bama games this year. But he also won us Mississippi state and other games. Good QB, but George can be elite. He is effortless with throwing the ball and at his height, he can see the field so well. Plus, he is a decent runner at his size. A better runner than Joey. People are scared of the unknown but you don’t pay these guys to sit.
My biggest issue with this staff is that they never give meaningful game reps to the backup OB's. Year after year this happens and we wind up with a young QB with no game experience. It just seems dumb to me, but it is what it is.My final take from the season finale upon reflection:
1) Give Inge another season. I gave him a hard time yesterday, but the talent in the LB room is getting better. Let’s see what that unit look like with another year of development and go from there.
2) Revise the offense to not lean so heavily on just counting the number of guys in the box. Vandy exposed the flaw in that ideology. More teams will take the same approach going forward. We grew schematically from 2024 to this season. That growth has to continue.
3) Move on from Tim Banks as soon as our commitments become signees. I’m on the fence with Martinez, but Banks cannot be retained under any circumstance. The number of times he called plays that took guys out of position to make a play this season was unacceptable. Change is necessary. If Heupel won’t do it, DW must do it for him.
4) Allocate more money to grabbing some studs in the portal and less money to retaining experienced guys who aren’t difference makers. If a guy like Farooq or Telander asks for more NIL money (just using them as an example, no inside info at all), let them walk. They aren’t bad players, but are they guys who can help you get back to the playoff? I don’t see them as that caliber of player. Divert those funds to getting studs who can get you to the playoff.
5) Get the QB position set for 2026. That starts with deciding if you want Joey Aguilar for another season and, if so, what are you willing to pay him? Also have to gauge the likelihood of him actually getting another season. If you’re moving on from him and/or feel that he isn’t likely to get another season, go ahead and have that conversation with him and decide if you’re going to ride with GMac & Faizon and just bring in a depth piece or if you want a proven guy from the portal. I don’t claim to know the right answer to this one, but I do know you can’t have average quarterback play and have a successful 2026 season. Heupel has to get this one right.
Jackson Arnold is a five star we might could get on the cheap. I mean if stars matter, that is.I’ll let Heupel figure it out but Joey is the more proven commodity at this point. We really won’t know about the other guys until the lights come on. Even Heupel won’t truly know? I would think the young guys certainly have more potential but that’s all it is at this time. Ill do my best @nicksjuzunkJackson Arnold is a five star we might could get on the cheap. I mean if stars matter, that is.

Let's run through this. Every year we do this wrong. In '24 we said 'defense gun be bayud, offense gone be gud.'Someone listed the potential starters for our 2026 offense earlier and I like the looks of it.
The defense is what scares me. Josh has to make major changes on the defense staff.
FAHR TIM
I think if Nico would have stayed he would have been much better. Nico will play in the League some day and Joey won't. Joey greatly benefited from being on a more talented team and coach who knew how to use him.But here's the problem, Joey turned out to be an upgrade over Nico. Had Nico stayed we'd likely have lost a couple more games.
That doesn't make me feel any better about the future.
Ideally you get a mix of impact and depth players dependent on the position group needs. We all assume the resources are there for it but who knows. Expect to see a significant amount of current roster transfer out in order to make it happen. With a year of evaluation within the program, and seeing the sizable impact of the McCoy and Gibson injuries this year, I have to imagine it is top of mind for Heupel alongside the tough decision of retaining or moving on from any current staffers. Also would LOVE to see Tennessee steal away star transfer portal players like Ohio State, Ole Miss and Oregon have done. Heck even Alabama and Georgia. Not add 10 mid level guys but add 5 really good names and roll
You're using the term "good corner coaching" a tad looselyPeople don’t like to hear it but Banks doesn’t really coach the safeties…when you’re a coordinator at this level your time is spent game planning. I am pretty sure Martinez coaches safeties…also a lot of the good cornerback coaching comes from Earnest Thomas.
Hiring good coordinators is a very important part of the job. Probably the most important. We'll see next year. CJH will be in year six at UT while Kiffin is in year 1 at LSU. So, CJH program should be in better condition than Kiffin at LSU. We'll see how the game plays out.Kiffy and the bayou bengals aren’t the saban bama teams
What the hell has he done that CJH hasnt besides hire a good DC
There was already smoke on UK forums that Stoops was being canned/he was meeting with Mitch Barnhart to discuss his future before RGW posted that. Wasn't hard to read the tea leaves there.RGW's posts are art like Van Gogh getting shot in the sunflower or something like that.
Did he nail the Stoops firing or what!?
