Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Truth is, Willie has led two different stint of DBs here at UT and has signed the same caliber of guys while also missing on all the 5 star studs. Willie has hit on two HS signees during his current tenure, Redmond and Gibson. The rest have given you absolutely nothing, except Jordan Matthews shutting us down yesterday. Now he has a good little niche going with identifying a portal stud each cycle and signing him, I’ll give him that. But if that’s what you want to rely on, and not those freak signees UGA/Bama/LSU/OhioSt roll out every year then hey, Willie is your guy.
I'm all for making Willie an analyst and finding a new DB coach. But I also feel we need both a CB coach and a safeties coach. I mean, now that you can basically have unlimited coaches, why would you not get a coach for each?

Just posting what Bull says. And no offense, but I’ll trust a person who played.
He's the only person I've heard say that and he used to not say that about Joey

I'd rather rock with Joey again over GMac or a true freshman. Wanting to trust a freshman next year is dumb as hell.

You can literally watch joey go through multiple reads with your own eyes, all season long.

Me personally I would give Corey Redmond stupid money and let him do what he does.

For comparison…

Yeah and in his App State film

His issue is turning the ball over

If it's not Joey next year it's another transfer QB, unless Faizon is a total freak, or GMac makes serious strides.

It would be absolutely disastrous for UT to lose Heupel at this point in the carousel. Heupel has his flaws but it would leave UT stuck between a rock and a hard place.
100%

I’ve kicked some dirt in Heup’s face, but he’s loads better than anyone we’re gonna get on the open market…

Only like 4 teams in cfb that win 10 games every year. OSU, Oregon, UGA, ND. And all those programs were ready-made as soon as those coaches stepped on campus. Recent history winning cultures, great players, etc.

An influx of NIL is fantastic but it’s difficult to make the step from a 9 win team every year to 10 win.

Btw I’m not questioning the future of the program. I just don’t think people realize how few teams win 10 games every year
Sign me up right now for averaging 9 regular season wins over the next 5 years. That means we had some 10+ banger seasons, and were in the mix.

Oh, I get it. Way more than you think. But, do tell us more about art, Klaus Biesenbach.
Stop. I can probably tell you more about art than anyone on this board. That's the wrong thing to test me on. Van Gogh was shot in the chest in the field while painting. It wasn't suicide. He cut his ear off when fellow painter Paul Gaugin told him he was moving out.

Impressionism was born because Monet developed cataracts. I can tell a Renoir as soon as I see it because the man hated edges. I used to joke none of his rooms had corners. I'm not trying to embarrass you, but don't make assumptions on the internet. You never know who you are talking to.

Matthews has some things to work on but he is a talent and has shown some big flashes at times. He just needs to get keep working hard at his craft. Everybody does this is a very young team. Half the team is freshman and sophomores and only 14 seniors. Our staff and players all got plenty to work on. This team has to mature and get more disciplined and stronger as a whole. Their mental toughness needs to be challenged. We have to become a tougher team, you got to hit you got to push hard. You have to have a killer instinct and that goes for coaches too. The staff has got to have the killer instinct as well. You can’t quit calling plays and letting up when you’re ahead. The players have to focus and take out teams when they are down, not let up and let them back in it. Tennessee fans want a tough aggressive team that attacks on both sides of the ball and wins at the LOS. The staffs and teams that can bond toughness and the hunger to win will win. Teams not willing to put in the work won’t win. Heupel and staff have to get the energy and fire into this program. Emotion is a part of the game, of course you want to be disciplined and smart and focused. But you can’t play and coach like robots either. Play like your at war, coach like your at war, and don’t be worrying about letting up on a opponent. Laxness is anti football, if you don’t practice hitting you won’t be good at it on saturdays. If your going to play this game play it all out or don’t play. Got to work hard at getting bigger and stronger. If your going to coach it coach it to win and beat your opponent as convincingly as you can. GBO! I’ve vented enough! Still VFL, but I hope Heupel is seeing that some things have to be addressed. I want to see him continue on here, he has some good qualities but he has to realize he is in a vulture conference and the team needs to develop the toughness that is required and start playing with the fire and passion that matches that of this great fan base. I will say I expected 9-3 or 10-2 but that was before Gibson got hurt and it appeared McCoy would return at some point. Still, I think this team should have won at least 9 personally. But it wasn’t a total loss of a season. We had a lot of young players play and it will pay off in the long run. There are many players on this team that should improve greatly by next season. Our recruiting class coming in looks strong and 27 looks good early. With our core team being young is now the time led by some of this years juniors for this group to bond together on the mission of making next year there year. But everybody involved needs to realize they all have to get better if they want to win championships. I do think we will be a better team overall next year. We really need Mac and Faizon to be ready to work and attack this system and become leaders fast. Next year is the hour Heupel and this team needs to start showing the strides we are all wanting and expecting to see. GBO! Whew I’m done for now! VFL!

Willie would not be coaching in the SEC if he didn’t so happen end up with Huep at UCF. William Wright was your CB3 this year in year 5, and an undersized Temple transfer was your star. Willie left UGA and they have been on a defensive back spree ever since. Just so happen he’s found the perfect match with our university. Fingers crossed with hit on one of low three star signees that are set to enroll. If we hit on one we’re doing good, or par for the course.
Wright was CB5 this season. Our CB1 and CB2 were injured.

Actually, Monet and others (called the Anonymous Society of Painters, Sculptors, Printmakers, etc.) bore Impressionism in the 1870s...with it being, Louis Leroy, an art critic, who actually coined the term, impressionists, as a kind of insult toward the group. With that, the 1870s being long before Monet developed cataracts after the turn of the century.

What was that again, about embarrassing?

Also, my 14 year old niece beat you to the punch on the Van Gogh regurgitation. She told me the same thing after she had learned it in her high school class, Intro To Art. That is, with the exception of the "wasn't suicide" part; that being a still hotly debated topic over 130 years later. I mean, Van Gogh's brother, Theo, who spent the last 15 hours of Vince's life by his bedside, and who was the closest person in the world to him, said otherwise.

If Heupel were to leave for Penn State (I don't think he does), Ole Miss would see what a real melt down looks like. Rocky Top would become a volcano, and the eruption would be like nothing ever seen.
