Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

WR’s were streaking open all damn game. Joey had the worst game of his life and our oline didn’t hold up well either. I was at the game there was probably a dozen plays we had Matthew’s, Staley or brazzell open 20+ yards down field. At one point Matthew’s and Staley were both open and instead Joey rolled out and got tackled for no gain. Staley turned around and threw up his hands
I could see that too...it was really obvious to me that Joey was worrying way too much about not throwing interceptions...all the criticism finally got in his head. I told my boys "He is thinking too much today".

I just thinks Heupel hates firing people but his hand is being forced with the performance on the field.
Firing people is hard for everyone that isn’t a psycho. And I’m sure he doesn’t want to fire his friends after he was fired by his mentor.

But he has to do it or he’s going to be fired in a few years. DW has to talk some sense into him.

Kiffin to LSU would provide 'data point' for playoff committee

The College Football Playoff Selection Committee "could" consider altering potential seeding for Ole Miss in the event Lane Kiffin leaves for LSU, committee chair Hunter Yurachek confirmed last week. Yurachek said on the playoff teleconference the Rebels could be graded differently if they enter the postseason under an interim coach. No discussion has previously taken place about the Rebels in that scenario, but that changes Sunday if Kiffin bolts for LSU.

"We'll take care of that when it happens. I mean, we don't look ahead," Yurachek said. "It is the loss of a player, loss of a key coach is in the principles of how we rank the teams. But again, we don't have a data point for Ole Miss without their head coach."

So is “need to execute better,” but it’s so common that its hard to tell if that’s a genuine reflection or just a throw-away line by someone trying to get through a presser after a tough loss.
Almost always the latter. But those pressers are beyond pointless anyway, so I don't mind players and coaches using the clichés. I don't know anyone who gets any actual info out of those useless sessions.

Totally agree. That’s why I don’t think that statement was a “huge indictment” on anyone.

The fact that we let Vandy come into our building and drop 45 should be enough of an indictment for anyone.
