This is eerily similar to the 2016 season when we had so many injuries but had a dynamic offense, yet we still lost four games and was beat at home by Vanderbilt by double digits if I recall correctly. Remember Butch had a foot out the door and was rumored to be taking another job that was a step down (maybe UNC). Then we lost, they backed out, we kept Butch another year, and he had quit before 2017 started. 4-8 that season. Hope this isn’t setting up the same way.

This is the maddest I've been after a loss since 2016 VU. I'm not at that level I don't think but I'm close.

Moreso because what it means about the state of the program.

This isn't an "aw shucks, oh well" loss. This should be alarms flashing for everyone.

Cliche to say but I think Vandy just legitimately wanted it more. Heup managed to get the team fired the hell up for UF, but couldn't manage it against Vandy. Meanwhile, Vandy has had this game circled for 365 days. We don't have the talent or roster to win with lackluster effort vs their potential best-of-season effort.

Yikes - not good numbers. Six straight versus Top 25 opponents?? Feels like we’ve gone in reverse a bit…

We have gone in reverse and it’s the same defensive issues we’ve had since Heupel got here. Banks is an awful coordinator. Martinez is the worst secondary coach.

Our last 3 coaches would have went 6-6 or worse with this team and would've got dogwalked by Bama and Georgia.

At the end of the day, 8-4 is what most thought would happen this summer based on the situation.

If Joey gets another year we need 9+ wins next year. It would be hard to swallow a b2b 8-win season with a veteran QB.

Have you seen next years schedule?

We need Elite QB play for 9 wins.

This. 100 times this. We had zero pride. We had zero heart. And that doesn’t even account for the fact that we had zero gameplan. I may have been upset over some other losses, but this one hurts the most. And not because it’s Vandy or even Pavia, but because our coaches laid an egg from the very beginning. It’s like none of them wanted to be there. Just atrocious.

Yes. But we didn’t predict the coaching staff would all up and quit their jobs with one game to go. There’s nothing tonight that showed me we even had a game plan drawn up.

Agree. If it was a hard fought (and fairly called) loss by 3 or so, then I could
Swallow it. But not laying down and quitting in our own stadium against Vandy and a 5’9” punk! The state of our program looks abysmal after that. Not sure how we sell recruits to still come here. What do we sell? Besides some NIL, but everyone has that now.

I can tell you I turned it off at 6:45 with about 6 minutes to go. We just went 4 and out and Vandy scored the next drive.
