Sumrall from Tulane is now expected to take the Florida job. He will make a final decision Sunday morning.
Starting to feel bad for Tulane, they are a stepping stone for players and coaches to P4 teams.
I don’t feel sorry for them. They made their decision to leave the SEC.
Him: My brother isn't liking me rooting for the Vols next to him haha.I’m sharing this comment with my future son in law![]()
I mean it’s a great job if you have zero aspirations in going to the Power 4. Probably the best Group of 5 job in the country considering the Louisiana talent. They are going to have to find an alum at some point that will want to be there for their entire career.Him: My brother isn't liking me rooting for the Vols next to him haha.
His brother graduated from UF
Me: Any conference championship implications for Tulane today?
Him: We win and we're in. Plain and simple. And we host.
Me:
Good luck. Hearing rumors that your coach is going to the Gators.
I told a friend I’m feeling sorry for Tulane turning into a stepping stone for players and coaches getting good offers from P4.
He said “I don’t feel sorry for them. They made their decision to leave the SEC.”
Him: My position is that's just the way it is. Our program has to adapt to the situation. Gotta find the right coaches and the right transfers to rebuild each year. We did a great job getting Sumrall after Fritz. Hoping the next guy will keep it going. Also hoping we can make it to the CFP.
Me: That’s a positive outlook.
Him: It'd be pretty depressing with any other outlook haha
You need to get in the sporting biz, you get it. That’s a good take on the situation.I mean it’s a great job if you have zero aspirations in going to the Power 4.
