Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

How Is it that AM has no chance to be in SEC championship with loss?
Alright Jackcrevol, let’s break down the SEC tiebreaker math that kept Texas A&M out of the championship game — in full “mansplain mode” so it’s crystal clear:

Mansplained.

Texas A&M basically had one job: beat Texas. Losing that game dropped them into a tie with Georgia, and the SEC’s tiebreaker system favored Georgia’s résumé and ranking. So even though A&M had the same conference record, the rules said: “Sorry Aggies, Bulldogs go to Atlanta.”

🚗 Mansplain Metaphor

Think of it like two cars racing to Atlanta:

• A&M’s car was ahead, but they hit a pothole (Texas loss).
• Georgia’s car stayed steady, didn’t crash, and the judges said, “Yep, Georgia’s car looks cleaner, they win the race.”
• A&M still finished with a shiny record, but the rules aren’t about who looks good — it’s about who didn’t mess up at the end.

There was no H2H, and Georgia's wins over ranked teams like TN and Bammer put them into the East spot.

Beat who you're suppose to beat... Losing to Ohio State isn't going to cost Texas a spot. Losing to a 3-8 FLORIDA will...

SEC best Conference in America you guys say... Well Florida is what it's record says a bad 3-8 team.
Im not saying Texas deserves to get in. I do believe starting next year a 9 win SEC team may deserve a spot over a 10 win ACC or another P4 conf team based on schedule.

I'm saying beat who you suppose to beat... I get tired of listening to MOST Head Coaches whine and cry when things don't go their way...

Excuses are a LOSERS Mentality... Just beat the inferior teams and I don't care where the game is at.

And all roads still lead back to Georgia vs Bama. All of this parity, and SEC seems they still are able to get their desired end result.

@TN-POSSUM do you think David Smith shows up in Neyland today? Or I wonder now if SEC will try to get Texas in playoffs which means Vandy has to lose?
That's what I was thinking last night. The SEC doesn't care about Vanderbilt and they still have a shot of making the playoffs. I think we get a favorable whistle today.

Either way, we're winning this game

There's a simple solution to solve the SEC vs Big Ten measuring contest.

Both Leagues play a 9 game league schedule and OOC have a Big ten vs SEC challege like Basketball..

Top 16 Teams in BIG Ten plays SEC

each conference record in previous year determines who you play.

16th best Big Ten team plays 16th best SEC team
And son on ....
15th vs 15th
14th vs 14th

Yada ,yada ,yada.

Winner gets to say they have biggest penis for a year.

Edit: BTW this will never happen because both Conference Commissioners are Chicken ****...

There would have to be some upsets and flukes for a 3-loss team to make it in this season IMO. Texas scored a great win, but I think it's too little too late.

I'm just ready to end Vandy's playoff hopes tomorrow.

I think it's possible Bama could win tomorrow and lose in the SEC CG and be left out. But, if any 3-loss team makes it in, it would be Bama after getting their third loss in the SEC CG. I really hope they get left out. They would lose their minds.
Committee said last year that conference championship losses could not take team out of playoff.

so they would have to explain that lie change if they left Bama out for CG loss.

They do, though. Three wins over top 10 teams. One of their losses was to the #1 team in America on their home field by 1 point (1 yard, actually). They shouldn't be punished for scheduling that game.

The CFP committee said it was going to start weighing SOS more heavily than simply number of losses, after allowing 2 teams with 0 quality wins into the playoff last season simply because they played weak schedules, which resulted in just 1 loss. Well, here's their chance to show they're not FOS.

(Spoiler alert: the CFP playoff committee is FOS)
Spoiler alert they have showed their hand all year with these rankings. ND has beat no one but fake Little10 USC

I like it. Or 1 less reg season game and have bowl season, then the playoffs. Or bowls week 1 based on last year like you said. There's a solution in there somewhere.

The hype around Kiffin from all these media members is getting stupid. "Wow, crazy day!" "If what I heard is true..."

This is like when a five star recruit tweets about shocking the world. He's going to LSU. We know it. Not everything has to be the most insane thing ever.

Our stats are somewhat skewed due to injury this year and happenstance, but Ole Miss' defense is ranked 30th. Why is it ranked so low? They are loaded. Look at their DL. They rotate. They have a good defense, but they also have the #3 offense in the country which puts a lot of stress on the defense. Heupel knows this. It's why Bennett Warren has made so many tender hearts faint this year. The better our offense is the worse our defense will perform statistically. Everyone at Tennessee knows that. It's a bet everyone is making.

A&M is pretty balanced. 15th ranked offense and defense statistically.
I call 🦬💩 on this...I've see teams be in the top 10-15 on defense and offense both.

I agree with your call. The narrative that the better the offense is the worse the defense will be is 💩!

Put a defense on the field that can get 3 plays and a punt from the other team and you won’t have a statistically terrible D.

Put a D on the field that consistently gives up 20 on 3rd and 15 and can’t get off the field and to some its the offense’s fault?
Nah.
