Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Turkey for Thanksgiving and Ham for Christmas are only relatively recent "traditions". Started in the 1920's I believe as both industries collectively campaigned and marketed for the country to adopt those meats for these holidays.

The original Thanksgiving meal was mostly venison, waterfowl, and seafood. There might've been a turkey present, but definitely not the primary meat. In much of the deep South, raccoon was the preferred Thanksgiving meat for a long time - probably because most of the game was eradicated by overhunting - until Coolidge publicly pardoned a raccoon on Thanksgiving in 1926 and recommended turkey instead.

The long-time Christmas meal tradition was a goose. As evidenced of A Christmas Carol (written in 1843) discussing picking up the "Christmas goose."

Make your own traditions. Do what makes sense for your family. Don't be afraid to start something new!

This Gator Raid gold-status insider thing on the 247 board is like a Cult. Everyone on every Florida message board other than the 247 one is thinking at this point they are going to miss on Kiffin and wondering what the next move is. 247 posters are 99.9% they are getting Kiffin, because of one guy clearly posing as an insider, and debating whether or not missing on Kiffin and landing Lincoln Riley would be better.

Because the same guy says Lincoln Riley has been vetted and suggest he knows that he would be interested.
This is the stuff they are posting. I know there are probably a lot of people who don't really care about this, I just find the psychological aspect of it all so interesting.
View attachment 793162It's wild that some people are more than willing to believe whatever lies make them feel better at the moment and suspend the ability to reason things out critically and recognize that the fact that even your Gator loving family thinks you're the nutjob for thinking Kiffin is coming makes imperitive your need to self-relect for just a moment and consider the fact maybe it's you who could be wrong.

This is why no one can convince me God has no sense of humor. Another Gator's 247 poster:

"I feel like I’m in a cult. This is fun!"

My family and I smoke crack during the holidays to save money. We have a trailer payment.

What about Jimmy's gumbo?

That is the craziest anti-gumbo ever. I mean, look at it. Cabbage? And a boiled egg? In whatever that roux-less liquid is. And a bag of frozen meatballs. Hyams would be jailed without bond if he tried to cross the Orleans parish line with that in his car.

why are people so uneducated these days 🤦🏻‍♂️
Too many reasons to list but a big part of it is the failure of the educational system to develop childen into productive members of society largely due to self-sabotage. "No Child Left Behind" ect. All things coded as attempts to improve education.

Thus you have Ivy League professors complaining their students are complaining about being assigned entire books to read. No one has ever required them to do that and many never have.

It's parenting problem too, to be sure. Parents today want to shift the responsibility for raising their kids to the educational system. They just want to scroll on their phones in all their spare time so they put their kids in front of screens too. I grew up reading books. I hope you did too. I hope you raised your kids to read. But most parents today expect the school to teach their kids the alphabet! They are so far behind when they show up to kindergarten. Kindergarten teachers are making public requests of parents not to expect them to potty-train their children. That's not a part of their job. They can't change diapers in a classroom and should not have to.

Add Betty White to that list

Somehow not surprised you would try to answer this question.

Say "Arkansas is broke" without saying it.

You can't just say "This job isn't about a money grab" when freaking South Florida is willing to pay a coach more than you are.

lol that statement might carry water IF it were a solid offer. But it’s not.

The dude that some on Florida message boards think was former Florida booster SU Gator posting on 247 under a different user name, just got banned for 4 days for using alternate characters to tell someone "shut tf up you r-word f-word."

The drama is better than Days of Our Lives because it isn't obvious everyone is acting. I have to find out what booster this supposedly is. He was doxxed already.

The only reason he popped up on the board was to tell everyone they were wrong, Kiffin isn't coming, place bets with several users to that effect which got a thread locked, and stick around long enough to brag when what he appears to already realize will come to pass, does.

Now he has to wait 4 days at least.
What’s the “r-word”?

Everyone is a good person. Some are just trying harder than others or further along on the path. The former can be a result of the latter. Deion has work to do. He hasn't grown a whole lot. But it's his path, not mine. I'm not judging. I also hope people aspire for higher. He claims to be a Godly man but Godly men are always mindful of how they affect others. He's had a negative affect on a lot of other people in his life. A lot of those stories have been buried because of who he is and what he's signed up for. You got the president talking about his son who just started getting first team snaps a few weeks ago as a 5th round draft pick. How many other 5th round draft picks get mentioned by the president? Or start their rookie year?
How many other presidents spend any time commenting on sports?

Some time today or tomorrow, pull up on YouTube a video by Sports Source Digital Network about how dirty Andy players are. It’s got former VFLs Hood, Walls and Lane talking about the dirty/crazy stuff going on.
Sooooooo want to shut them up this Saturday 🤬👊🏻
I didn’t know about that video (thanks) but I know Vandy concussed a defenseless Sellers with a deliberate-looking late head to head hit early in their SCar game. Vandy beat SCar’s backup QB.

Same with Vandy vs Mizzou. A different dirtyVandy player deliberately and flagrantly twisted the ankle of Mizzou’s starting QB like he was trying to twist it off in a pile of players. Mizzou’s 2nd string QB was already out with previous injury, so Vandy beat Mizzou’s 3rd string QB.

I think Vandy counts these as big “ranked” opponent wins.

I hope someone has been raising hell with Birmingham about the tactics.

Holy cow. This stuff just gets nuttier and nuttier. Now Gator Raid's, 247's adamant insider, wife has signed up to the 247 board.

One household. Two 247 accounts. Posters over there are getting suspicious.
