Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Everyone in Florida media and someone affiliated with the UAA KNOWS Lane Kiffin is no longer an option, but still today-when Kiffin's decision will be public at the latest Saturday-they are gaslighting their fans to expect Lane Kiffin. I don't think anyone smart is running anything over there. And I think the lack of any accountability for any sort of perceived error promotes this sort of gaslighting of fans.

It's like promising Rashada millions you know you can't pay him just to get him to flip from Miami.

Everyone is a good person. Some are just trying harder than others or further along on the path. The former can be a result of the latter. Deion has work to do. He hasn't grown a whole lot. But it's his path, not mine. I'm not judging. I also hope people aspire for higher. He claims to be a Godly man but Godly men are always mindful of how they affect others. He's had a negative affect on a lot of other people in his life. A lot of those stories have been buried because of who he is and what he's signed up for. You got the president talking about his son who just started getting first team snaps a few weeks ago as a 5th round draft pick. How many other 5th round draft picks get mentioned by the president? Or start their rookie year?
Not everyone is a good person. Not speaking on DS. I don't know him. But not everyone is a good person.

I haz the sadness. Celebrating with eldest daughter who decided they are not having the traditional meal. She requested I bring smoked meat, but then insisted it not be pork. Wut? Fine, so roasting a beef tenderloin in the smoker, reverse searing on a Blackstone. Should be tasty...but...bringing the beef to serve with...lasagna?!? I can't even wrap my head around this.

In fairness this may be my fault. Many years ago we rebelled against the traditional Christmas Eve meal (primarily because of Thanksgiving overload) and started doing Spanish food. It's fun. Feliz Navidad and what not. But no real Thanksgiving meal?!? Is that even legal?
Turkey for Thanksgiving and Ham for Christmas are only relatively recent "traditions". Started in the 1920's I believe as both industries collectively campaigned and marketed for the country to adopt those meats for these holidays.

The original Thanksgiving meal was mostly venison, waterfowl, and seafood. There might've been a turkey present, but definitely not the primary meat. In much of the deep South, raccoon was the preferred Thanksgiving meat for a long time - probably because most of the game was eradicated by overhunting - until Coolidge publicly pardoned a raccoon on Thanksgiving in 1926 and recommended turkey instead.

The long-time Christmas meal tradition was a goose. As evidenced of A Christmas Carol (written in 1843) discussing picking up the "Christmas goose."

Make your own traditions. Do what makes sense for your family. Don't be afraid to start something new!

I made a couple of coaching predicitons the other day I want to double down on:

Arkansas: Kame Wommack
Florida - Jon Sumrall
Ole Miss - Lane Kiffin
Lea - Vandy

we'll see how close I am.

I think to see God in you, you first have to recognize it in absolutely everyone else. But I'm just telling people what I think. Not telling anyone else how to.
I agree and I try to do my best but there are some that absolutely reject good and embrace evil.

No, it isn't. You might think so. I don't believe that for a second. Spaceballs 2 was a punchline in the movie Spaceballs. Nothing more will ever be acknowledged.
Actually it’s been announced:

Serial killers, not good people. Child molesters, not good people. Adolf Hitler was not a good person. Not everyone is a good person. History is littered with bad people who did bad things.

Florida, Bama, Vandy, Georgia, and Kentucky fans. Not good people

They are doing Spaceballs 2 because making Blazing Saddles 2 absolutely would not fly today. (They actually auditioned Kevin Hart for the Sheriff role but he started hitting on the director, who's a dude. I made that up. Don't sue me with your piles of money that will never make you any taller, Kevin.)
Blazing Saddles would never be allowed in today’s culture, which is sad because the entire movie is a satire on the ignorance of racism. But some people get so worked up about the use of the n-word that they overlook the entire message of the movie, which is actually funny in a way because it means they’re just proving Mel Brooks’s point. All that to say, it’s by far one of the funniest movies ever made!

People of today are just too damn serious.

This Gator Raid gold-status insider thing on the 247 board is like a Cult. Everyone on every Florida message board other than the 247 one is thinking at this point they are going to miss on Kiffin and wondering what the next move is. 247 posters are 99.9% they are getting Kiffin, because of one guy clearly posing as an insider, and debating whether or not missing on Kiffin and landing Lincoln Riley would be better.

Because the same guy says Lincoln Riley has been vetted and suggest he knows that he would be interested.
This is the stuff they are posting. I know there are probably a lot of people who don't really care about this, I just find the psychological aspect of it all so interesting.
1764272350548.pngIt's wild that some people are more than willing to believe whatever lies make them feel better at the moment and suspend the ability to reason things out critically and recognize that the fact that even your Gator loving family thinks you're the nutjob for thinking Kiffin is coming makes imperitive your need to self-relect for just a moment and consider the fact maybe it's you who could be wrong.

Blazing saddles is amazing

TBH, anything but turkey or ham today seems communist
This is a little sus:

"The Communist Movement of Turkey (Turkish: Türkiye Komünist Hareketi, TKH) is a communist party in Turkey. The TKH was split from the People's Communist Party of Turkey in 2015, which was split from the Communist Party of Turkey in 2014."

Over/Under on the # of deviled eggs you'll eat this Thanksgiving?
Breaking out the prosciutto/jalapeño and lemon/caper deviled eggs again this year.

Pecan pie is done and looks great.

Made breakfast for everyone and letting my brother in law knock out the prime rib for dinner. First year without turkey, but I’m ok with the substitution.

I was talking with a new in-law on wifey’s side at their family Thanksgiving. Dude works part-time for the company based just north of Knoxville that does the fireworks at Neyland Stadium. He said they’ve expanded to do nearly every SEC team and several smaller teams too.

“Do y’all do Alabama’s fireworks?”
“Yes, we do.”
“How much money would it take for you to f— that up spectacularly?
He laughs.
“I want to see fiery blasts of alternating orange and white lights circling that stadium.”

I’m kind of there with you. Initially disappointed we’re not having turkey, but I’m the only one who was disappointed. Losing battle with this crew.
