The Ole Miss reporter on their 247 site, Neal McCready I think, said that there are people high up in the LSU organization who are extremely skeptical Lane is seriously considering leaving Ole Miss for LSU. Florida fans, of course, are interpreting it as they are landing him. That's not what my guy is saying.

If we drop to 5-7 or 6-6 at any point in the near future, Heup ain’t it. Why could we go 10-2 w RS freshman nico (who wasn’t even that good) but it would be 5-7 or 6-6 w GMAC? With a more experienced and talented roster than this year? I don’t get the logic. With next years schedule you don’t have that record with those QB’s. It’s more like 5-7 or 6-6.
I tend to agree, I will say the 2026 class is currently 7th nationally in recruiting average at 92.04…. Add a few great pass rushers and stack the OL make sure QB is good. No reason Vols shouldnt be in championship contentionIf we have the right coach there shouldn’t be rebuilding years. Reload, not rebuild.
I hope he comes back and coaches tell him he can compete for the job; tie goes to the freshman. If he is willing to do that and sit on the bench until he is needed, then I would love to have him back. What do ya'll think about Joey joining the Pavia petition to get another year? Do you think he can improve in our system enough as we go into next season to definitely be the guy, or does anyone think the portal may have someone better for a season like a Sam Leavitt type guy? On the one hand, Joey already knows the system and should improve naturally getting another year and we won't have to pay big money to keep him (use it on Georges and the entire defense)... He already bleeds orange and most would take him back in a second as I would... On the other hand with Faison coming in, will we have enough horses next season to make a run if we had an elite QB via the portal? I think unfortunately the last few games Joey has regressed a bit and those interceptions are stinging... we can't have that type of play today or next week to have a prayer of winning... Are we seeing the best Joey right now, or does anyone think there's still more there that Joey can work towards?
I know this would be usually a crazy conversation to have, it would always be a resounding of course we want Joey back, but in this new BUSINESS of college football where players and coaches are jumping team to team each year and getting fired mid season if they don't win enough games, it's become a pure business of wins with the playoffs... great example---- if even 5 years ago you told us that vAndy was about to flip a 5* QB from GEORGIA and as of the first of the week there were like 5-6 big schools looking for a new HC DURING the season, everyone would say GTFO... but here we are...
Literally did just that this yearThat’s crazy talk. Brandon won’t be ready, GMac is an unproven commodity, and we’re already comfortable with Joey. I’d rather keep what we have and know can grow/improve than either spend the money on an unknown portal QB or risk GMac/BF when neither are ready.
And as a GMac homer who thinks he can be great, I’d rather we not go into 2026 with a lot of unknowns.
