I know this would be usually a crazy conversation to have, it would always be a resounding of course we want Joey back, but in this new BUSINESS of college football where players and coaches are jumping team to team each year and getting fired mid season if they don't win enough games, it's become a pure business of wins with the playoffs... great example---- if even 5 years ago you told us that vAndy was about to flip a 5* QB from GEORGIA and as of the first of the week there were like 5-6 big schools looking for a new HC DURING the season, everyone would say GTFO... but here we are...

I would keep him for continuity. GMac might leave and Brandon stay at that point. Joey is going to throw interceptions but also hit big plays. He needs more support from the defense and running game though.

That’s crazy talk. Brandon won’t be ready, GMac is an unproven commodity, and we’re already comfortable with Joey. I’d rather keep what we have and know can grow/improve than either spend the money on an unknown portal QB or risk GMac/BF when neither are ready.

And as a GMac homer who thinks he can be great, I’d rather we not go into 2026 with a lot of unknowns.

Miss St resonates with Mississippians more. It’s a laid back and welcoming university and fanbase. More hospitable for its own and opposing fans. I always root for Miss St in anything against Ole Miss as someone that lives in Memphis and interacted with both sides. I’ve been to two Mississippi St games in Orange and three Ole Miss games in Orange. I’ve never had a single heckler from Miss St. It’s been the opposite with Ole Miss fans.

It would've been different if they were winning by 2 and the muff gave the other team a fg or TD to win. They were already losing and probably not gonna make an 80yd game winning drive. . . still, that was a horrible muff at that point of the game. Backbreaker.

Him coming back to be the experienced safety net and mentor to GMac and BF would make more sense than trying to get someone unknown from the portal to do that $250k is more than he'll likely command in his first year out of school with his degree, while still being a great deal for us in terms of NIL and an insurance ppolicy.

Him coming back to start and relegate the others to mop up, doesn't make sense.

If Joey gets another year he’s making WAY more than $250k. He’ll have schools offering him double and triple more than what we paid this year.

Wasn’t his deal for this year supposed to be around 1.4 mil? I don’t think it was ever officially reported. I think he would run it back for a number under 2. His family seems to love the state, the team, and the fans. Maybe I have my head in the clouds.

Im not really interested in Joey for. another year. I think 8-4, 9-3 is the ceiling with him at QB, would rather have that record with GM or BF and get ready for the future.

So is Joey trying to come back for another year or did he join the lawsuit in support of JUCO players?

BTW, if he wants to come back that would be absolutely massive and anyone not wanting that is crazy. No way Gmac or Faizon would put the numbers he would next year. Bring Joey back and portal a top 25 defense.
