What do ya'll think about Joey joining the Pavia petition to get another year? Do you think he can improve in our system enough as we go into next season to definitely be the guy, or does anyone think the portal may have someone better for a season like a Sam Leavitt type guy? On the one hand, Joey already knows the system and should improve naturally getting another year and we won't have to pay big money to keep him (use it on Georges and the entire defense)... He already bleeds orange and most would take him back in a second as I would... On the other hand with Faison coming in, will we have enough horses next season to make a run if we had an elite QB via the portal? I think unfortunately the last few games Joey has regressed a bit and those interceptions are stinging... we can't have that type of play today or next week to have a prayer of winning... Are we seeing the best Joey right now, or does anyone think there's still more there that Joey can work towards?
I know this would be usually a crazy conversation to have, it would always be a resounding of course we want Joey back, but in this new BUSINESS of college football where players and coaches are jumping team to team each year and getting fired mid season if they don't win enough games, it's become a pure business of wins with the playoffs... great example---- if even 5 years ago you told us that vAndy was about to flip a 5* QB from GEORGIA and as of the first of the week there were like 5-6 big schools looking for a new HC DURING the season, everyone would say GTFO... but here we are...
That’s crazy talk. Brandon won’t be ready, GMac is an unproven commodity, and we’re already comfortable with Joey. I’d rather keep what we have and know can grow/improve than either spend the money on an unknown portal QB or risk GMac/BF when neither are ready. No thanks, appreciate Joey but time to move on
Most of this state is State fans followed by Bama and LSU. Ole Miss fans are in the minority. Ole Miss is associated with old money and most Mississippians are broke af.
It would've been different if they were winning by 2 and the muff gave the other team a fg or TD to win. They were already losing and probably not gonna make an 80yd game winning drive. . . still, that was a horrible muff at that point of the game. Backbreaker. Is his defense, it was a total, complete team loss. I watched that game. Defense played well enough to win. Offense was complete, and total dogshit.
Him coming back to be the experienced safety net and mentor to GMac and BF would make more sense than trying to get someone unknown from the portal to do that $250k is more than he'll likely command in his first year out of school with his degree, while still being a great deal for us in terms of NIL and an insurance ppolicy. What do ya'll think about Joey joining the Pavia petition to get another year? Him coming back to start and relegate the others to mop up, doesn't make sense.
Wasn’t his deal for this year supposed to be around 1.4 mil? I don’t think it was ever officially reported. I think he would run it back for a number under 2. His family seems to love the state, the team, and the fans. Maybe I have my head in the clouds. If Joey gets another year he’s making WAY more than $250k. He’ll have schools offering him double and triple more than what we paid this year.

Now is the time. Interim coach and all these injuries? You have got to win in the swamp this year. It’s now or never.
Im not really interested in Joey for. another year. I think 8-4, 9-3 is the ceiling with him at QB, would rather have that record with GM or BF and get ready for the future. What do ya'll think about Joey joining the Pavia petition to get another year?
