Many would be shocked to know how much better ZZ's shooting percentages were thru 4 games, too, though an admittedly small sample size.

ZZ: 15.5 ppg, 20-37 (54%), 10-21 (47.6%) from 3
JG: 16.5 ppg, 23-50 (46%), 13-32 (40.6%) from 3

Now, ZZ cooled off considerably and finished shooting 40.4% and 32.2% from 3.

If JG can maintain his percentages, that is a significant jump in efficiency on the year from that position.
Those are good examples, Chris. Kind of goes to show why we can’t really compare small snapshots to the bigger picture, like I just did.

Not too worried about Nate's 3 ball, he's not taking many of them in rhythm.

I do hope he gets a bit more consistent with finding his teammates off the doubles he's going to see. I expect most teams will try to match him up against a lengthy (but shorter) guard that's quick handed and then roll a 2nd player towards him. If he can anticipate this and make smart passes out of it those 3 assists a night can become 5 or 6 pretty quickly and teams will have to stop doubling him so much.
Yeah I'm not worried because when he's set or shooting in rhythm the shot looks much better. Seems like he hasn't really had much in rhythm shots this season yet except maybe a few out of bounds plays.

Kind of goes to what Barnes is saying. When you’re hunting the 3, you just aren’t taking the 3 within the flow of the offense. It has to be there naturally. Then it begins to fall. So true, IMO.

ZZ is probably a bit quicker but Gillespie's size makes a big difference when defending the pick and roll and he doesn't get backed down by his man in iso the way ZZ did at times. I love ZZ but JG has a ton of weapons around him and should have a monster year. I love that we have multiple waves of bigs, shooters, ball handlers and defenders with a wide variety of physical body types and play styles.

This team has easily the largest amount of total talent who is currently ready to contribute that we have had in the Barnes era.....maybe ever. If we stay healthy (hope JP is good) and Ament can continue to develop/improve and play at a consistently high level in March then this season has a ton of potential to be special.

I agree small sample size ... yes I know ... not reflective of season overall numbers.
The think that excites me ... is you are comparing ZZ's numbers (who was in the company of people he had played with for years) ... against JG's numbers (who has had very limited playing time with this group of guys).
Here's hoping that the when the product "jells" the numbers ... maintain their current level ... or ... get even better!

Excuse the ignorance, haven't kept up with the roster this season--- I thought we got one or two kids from a semi or professional league in Europe? I thought it was some other kid besides Massamba? Or is he set to come next year?

Best that I can interpret it all:

Clarence Massamba is from Paris and is a nearly 20 year old freshman. He played in a developmental league sponsored by a European professional league.

Burg came from the Israeli Basketball League which is affiliated with FIBA Europe.

Felix Okpara is Nigerian, but came to the United States as a 14 year old - therefore more of a traditional path to the NCAA.

So happy to be here in the land of sanity after a visit to the cesspool that the football forum has become, with negative threads after a dominant win over a bitter rival and the usual squabbles between nega-trolls and those who should simply ignore them.
Yep. It has become an overflow retention pool for the sewer that is twitter.

We were hoping you wouldn’t find us.

Enjoy it for possibly a day; unless we beat Houston.
