Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Latest from Ole Miss Mod Chase Parham on Kiffin.

"The Rebels and Tigers believe Kiffin will be in Baton Rouge if he takes a new job or he'll decide he can't leave this team and stay with the Rebels."

More recent update:

"There's a lot of buzz in the coaching/agent world that it was Florida that leaked it's soon-to-be-canceled interview with Tulane coach Jon Sumrall. The sourcing/speculation/gossip is Florida has basically been ghosted by Kiffin as this week has progressed and the leak of an interview with Sumrall was meant to re-engage him. Like Chase, I've basically quit paying attention to Florida, so maybe it worked, though I sincerely doubt it. I think this is an Ole Miss-LSU thing now. LSU has let Kiffin know it will basically do whatever he wants. He just has to, as Chase pointed out in the start of this thread, make a decision."
Amateurs!!!

Let me know when they get to this level.....

Here’s hoping Kiffin does us a solid and takes LSU out of the market.

Pipe dreams and total speculation.
Put out there by our media that he could be back by UGA and then they reported stuff from Jermod's worry circle. I don't blame the fans, because they didn't start the speculation. He also had a worse injury than just an ACL tear apparently. Which wasn't even referenced by people in the know until last freaking month.

It is strange to see him SPRINTING in a football uniform on August 8th and then he just never plays. Yes, lateral movement is different, but still. Hard to blame the fans for their speculation. It is always unreasonable to poo poo on the player in this situation, because we don't know if anything is his fault. Also heard he's done everything he can to get back.

Just incredibly disappointing. An unbelievably cursed season that we need to finish 9-3.

Most of the "media" puts crap out there just for clicks that either is saying what fanbase (especially passionate fanbases) wants to hear or will piss them off, even if it totally not true. Fans need to understand that and be forever skeptical.

Everyone on social media has one or more motives. The problem of good or bad news is more in the motivation of the messenger, than the info itself. If the info always comes with an agenda, people pick up on that and become reflexively hostile, particularly with negative news. Delivery matters too. Don't think too many would get mad at "Folks closer to the program think it's likely that McCoy won't play again. We'll see." Statement of fact. People closer than most of us don't think he'll play. Sucks, but fine. When you start wrapping it in passive-aggressive language, self aggrandizement, martyr language, painful repetition, or use the info to attack a secondary agenda ("CGE sucks!", "Heupel never plays freshman") then clearly you have motive beyond simply sharing what you know. People sense that and push back.
Very well said, SS.

I think the Vols should go after the best QB they can buy in the portal this year. Player loyalty is not guaranteed in the post-NIL/transfer portal world. There's no guarantee that GMac or Faizon stay with the Vols even if they are given the keys to the kingdom early (see Nico). They could also easily get hurt or bust. We should be putting the best product on the field each year and let the chips fall where they may. If we win and we offer competitive compensation, we will keep good players even if they sit for an extra year.

I know teams can still be good with an unproven, green QB (see Sayin at OSU or Ty at Bama), but is that the risk you want to take? We've seen what this offense looks like when it's executed by a competent QB. I don't want to go back to forcing a rook to a baptism by fire to see what we have.

How did I miss this. Is this why he's flirting with the NFL?

Just did a little dive into this. Apparently they filed for divorce last July. They got back together in late 2025. 9 months after they announced their divorce she had a baby. It could be true but I found nothing to verify the accusations.

Tbf we have a 6’4 safety committed, but I seriously doubt he sticks at safety. And not from outgrowing the position, they’ll want him in the front seven to sit the bench.
Yeah he isn’t a future safety imo but it would be intimidating seeing him on the opposite 30 as a qb drops back on his own 30.

I think the biggest thing about McCoy is that there was news he'd be back by UGA at the beginning of the season and now fans can't accept that he is still recovering
There was never any news about him being back by UGA. That was just fan speculation and nothing more.

Idk this was different than normal. Like Volquest I'd typically pretty accurate about those things.

I'm guessing Jermod is just playing for the draft now. Which I think is a risk. Even if he were to come back, I wouldn't want him out there if he could go. I'd imagine he just can't at this point.

Why would it matter how he was used Fr year when he has other years of significant playing time?

Agree you don’t necessarily need an elite passing QB but I think you’d be surprised at the passing stats Tebow put up in college. He was an elite college QB. I give zero shites about the NFL.
Did Tebow ever make a living completing anything over 15 yards? He hit short passes and the WR's did the heavy work for him. That may be why he couldn't sustain a career in the NFL. I always thought he would be a great RB in the NFL.

Hopefully Arion is a full-go this week. They just gave him last week off for extra recovery, yeah?
Turf toe is not a short-term injury-----I doubt he will be anywhere near 100% for the rest of the year. That's similar to the high ankle sprain----long term recovery
