The Atlanta Braves

AA's comments seem to indicate they envision Dubon as a utility player. If that's the case, it's a great move. If he's our starting SS, then just burn it all down.

I am not holding out a ton of hope. But the early moves suggest we might have a decent chunk of change to work with. I don't think you spend 16 million on Iggy if you're short on cash.

Yeah gonna be fun when Kim gets 2 years/$44M and instead of paying him we gave that to Iggy/Dubon

It would be extremely frustrating if that ends up being the case.

If that were the case, I would rather sign Kim and skip getting a SP upgrade. Just roll with the group of infirmary patients we currently have in the rotation, plus give our upper tier prospects a chance to prove themselves.

My prediction:

We trade for Jacob DeGrom. Not sure the package that it will take, but I think we attach Lopez in the trade to help off-set a little salary.

…why would the Rangers do that
Texas supposedly is open to trading him (and Seagar too). Lopez wouldn't really factor in at all value wise, except for some off-setting money for us and giving Texas a SP option to replace DeGrom's spot in the rotation.

They don’t need a late 30’s guy with arm injuries at $30M. They need guys they can rely on to take the ball every 5th day and be above average

You do when your GM has a weird infatuation on blowing every dollar on relievers

It is hilarious to have a GM whose thought process with position players and starting pitchers is "I will not go a cent over their value, no matter what. I cannot go over a penny of what MY offer is" and then when it comes to relievers constantly overpays by $5-10M.
