2026 Lady Vols Recruiting

i’m perfectly fine with our 2026 class. two very solid players, one who has the potential to be one of the best we’ve had in a while. we will fill our needs through the portal, kim has thrived there so i have no doubt she will continue. we need some experience next year with so much leaving, so we need open spots for the portal.
Kim knows the value of foundation players and your foundation players are not 1-2 year portal acquisitions...

You don't build a house starting on the second floor...Danny failed to back his jockey "and that's the bottom line... cause stone jumper says so"...This takes nothing away from our present portal players! The elite coaches (Pat, Geno, Dawn, Kim) didn't build their programs with portal players, they built them on recruits and topped them off with precise talents for precise needs

I stand by my words
I like my words better because it's straight facts. He can't decide where all the money goes. Women's basketball is only as big as the revenue it generates. Baseball was selling out so he had to expand a stadium still not enough seating for season ticket demand. Kim has to perform and I think she will and that will generate more interest therefore more donors will be willing to help.

the portal wasn’t utilized like it is today when pat, geno, dawn, and kim built their programs. ALSO, kim built LSU through the portal so that’s incorrect.

Don't blame Danny best AD UT has ever had. He gave as much profit sharing as other SEC schools . It's up to finding the money for NIL which donors usually specify where there money is spent. Need to find individual donors to offer NIL opportunities for higher quality players. Kim is new in the circle and very well may make that connection. What we got so far may be enough but think we really need another big.
I hate that schools have to purchase players. Since this is the case now, why even make them enroll and go to class

My problem with blaming the AD is that every other team could use the same excuse. Dawn, Kim, Geno et al could say the reason they didn't get Edwards was that their respective AD's didn't give them enough money. That Tennessee opened up the vault for her.
Is money the bottom line, the overriding factor, for every player ?
I don't think so.

The new CBA for the WNBA will probably boost rookie salaries but right now, a first round pick gets around 90K. Coop probably would do better staying in college from a $ standpoint, unless her NIL deals were to travel with her to the pros.
There also the possibility, while slim, that the CBA will not be agreed to in time to have a 2026 season. That would impact some college players (including Coop) who are contemplating whether to stay in college or go pro.

Kim has literally stated last years top class was the foundation and it was well known we were ideally wanting to get 2-3 recruits this year (and we did) then utilize the portal as necessary come Spring. IMO you don't need to have a big class and follow up immediately with another big class. Makes no sense. We will be fine. Blaming DW is actually insane.

Well there still young and need an education. We have a few that hasn't learned enough after being here for 2 years. Life lessons can hit hard when you're not listening to the elders. Really when NIL hit I knew it would get crazy. BUT the biggest thing it has accomplished is parity in all sports. Sure some teams can afford more players but a few schools were paying players already with the NCAA just turning their heads. Now everyone is buying players and everyone is getting a few.

buy it!

we had a chance at history...#2 Edwards, #8 Crittenden, #9 Abii and #11 Jones and only reached into our pockets for one (no knock against Edwards,,,she is indeed worthy of the effort and I am thankful we have her)...But ALL 3 were lost due to $'s

Danny,,,,are you listening....The staff didn't fail,,,the athletic department did!

Danny White included a contract clause that would increase Kim Caldwell's salary to meet or exceed the highest paid women's basketball coach in NCAA Division I if she won a national championship. This clause, which he stated was to show the university's commitment to winning, was put in place before the 2024 season.
  • Contract clause: The contract includes a clause that, if Caldwell wins a national title, her salary will be raised to match or exceed the highest salary of any other women's basketball coach in NCAA Division I.
  • Purpose: The clause was designed to demonstrate the university's serious commitment to getting the Lady Vol program back to a championship level.
  • Timing: The clause was established in April 2024 when Caldwell was hired as the new head coach for the University of Tennessee women's basketball team.
When does the serious commitment start?

Are the recruits looking to play for a great coaching staff or looking to pad their pockets?

If they're looking to pad their pockets then keep on trucking... We won a National Championship in Baseball with very little NIL money and we can in Women's basketball as well.. just need to find the ones who want to be here for the right reasons.

Oklahoma padded one players pockets with a million dollars think they got cheated she is not going to be anywhere close to winning them a National Championship.

It's all about evaluating the talent. Sometimes there's not enough difference in say a top 4 player at a possion as a number 24 player in the country. Pick and choose wisely that's what Tony V had to do. He had a lot of players rated below 300 that were drafted high. Kim has some growing to do she is fishing in the big pond now. Any players she has on the team now would have been All American at Glenville.

If Women's basketball was a one and done scenario like a lot of in the men's game, I totally understood backing up the Brinks truck for the top guns. Since Women's basketball isn't like that getting a 5 player class and then followed up by a smaller class should be the norm...

Oil money is real. Look at where Texas Tech suddenly is across all sports now. Who really wants to live in Lubbock, Texas? Texas is doling it out. A middling Texas A&M program is spending extravagant money for their undefeated football team. Clearly, we all need to go electric.
