2026 Lady Vols Recruiting

Jacy, Trinity and now Crittenden,,,all lost due t o lack of financial incentive,,,,gues what Danny,,,its a new era in women's basketball,,,You get what you pay for and you lose what you don't purchase

If you're gonna pay the coach if she wins a Natty,,,you have to back her recruiting with the same pocket

And those ARE "the right words"
True I think we may need to expand, but they figure this for value and evidently we are playing it like that.

I will say I think Crittendon ends up going to Colorado. I think there is enough NIL money and it is also a perfect situation for her to play close to home.

they didn't strike out, ,,,,Danny's pockets weren't deep enough
I figured money was maybe the reason Tenn didnt get Trinity and probably wont get Bri? Because it sure isn't that you will a Natty at Clemson or Colorado before Tenn! Now the same can't be said if Bri goes to Texas. But either way , now a days sometimes you have to be willing to stretch more than normal.....Financially that is!

Kim is Danny's hire that he took a big chance on. I'm just not buying it that he's not willing to pay for good players.
buy it!

we had a chance at history...#2 Edwards, #8 Crittenden, #9 Abii and #11 Jones and only reached into our pockets for one (no knock against Edwards,,,she is indeed worthy of the effort and I am thankful we have her)...But ALL 3 were lost due to $'s

Danny,,,,are you listening....The staff didn't fail,,,the athletic department did!

Danny White included a contract clause that would increase Kim Caldwell's salary to meet or exceed the highest paid women's basketball coach in NCAA Division I if she won a national championship. This clause, which he stated was to show the university's commitment to winning, was put in place before the 2024 season.
  • Contract clause: The contract includes a clause that, if Caldwell wins a national title, her salary will be raised to match or exceed the highest salary of any other women's basketball coach in NCAA Division I.
  • Purpose: The clause was designed to demonstrate the university's serious commitment to getting the Lady Vol program back to a championship level.
  • Timing: The clause was established in April 2024 when Caldwell was hired as the new head coach for the University of Tennessee women's basketball team.
When does the serious commitment start?

Don't blame Danny best AD UT has ever had. He gave as much profit sharing as other SEC schools . It's up to finding the money for NIL which donors usually specify where there money is spent. Need to find individual donors to offer NIL opportunities for higher quality players. Kim is new in the circle and very well may make that connection. What we got so far may be enough but think we really need another big.

I stand by my words

Going to need two more bigs and really two really great three point shooters that are also athletic. That is a tall order to fill. I agree Danny distributes the money as allocated and that is what you have to recruit with. If you need more it has to come from donors or boosters who claim to be businesses. Lady Vols not getting any of football or mens basketballs money. Saw a huge overreaction when Tony left that the Lady Vols were getting some of baseballs money. That turned out to be false.

I wonder what Coop is making here? I would think it is more than what the WNBA pays, but of course there is the part about playing at the top of the sport.
The new CBA for the WNBA will probably boost rookie salaries but right now, a first round pick gets around 90K. Coop probably would do better staying in college from a $ standpoint, unless her NIL deals were to travel with her to the pros.

She needs a Bass Pro Shop NIL deal. I have never seen a female athlete love fishing as much as she does, and I find it very charming and authentic.

I would really like to see her play one year with Edwards, but that is just me being selfish. I totally understand she can take her NIL deals and also their salary plus play at the highest level.

This is why evaluations are very important. 2 of our portal players are not performing as needed one most definitely. If they don't payoff then it's wasted money you could have saved for a high school play .
all of the players we got from the portal are one year players though, so i dont see them being a waste of money.

i’m perfectly fine with our 2026 class. two very solid players, one who has the potential to be one of the best we’ve had in a while. we will fill our needs through the portal, kim has thrived there so i have no doubt she will continue. we need some experience next year with so much leaving, so we need open spots for the portal.

Still need players as we are at 10 for that season. I think we'll get them. Portal will again be 1000 players were going to need from 3 to 5.
