Third-string QB Sam Huard in Friday's game lined up in the punterās spot wearing jersey No. 80 on a fourth-and-6 play, the same number as regular punter Sam Johnson, who punted for the first time in the next possession.

On another web forum I saw someone argue that the fake punt was legal since the backup QB entered the game prior to the real punter's first appearance (I didn't see the game). However the real punter should have been ineligible once the backup QB entered the game.
I'm not sure what the rule really is. I know two players with the same number can dress for the game but I'm not absolutely certain that both can play.
So a defensive or exclusively special teams player could wear #16 for Tennessee?
