Ewers had a circus around him?I said it in one of the 500 Nico threads but the NFL does not like QBs who dont have top half of R1 talent when they have a circus around them...
Its why Beck got a low draft grade
Its why Ewers is D3 at best
Its why Sanders is D3 at best
All three were D2 talent. One is still in college and two are going to be D3 pick...
Personally I think Ewers is the best of those 3 in all respects.
Beck and Sanders are me first teammates. All indications from some owner comments about Sanders' interviews seem to be that anything that came out of his mouth was about himself and how important he is. Hard fact is Sanders never earned a starting QB position, and the one's that left CU after he was inaugarated were likely better. Other hard fact is that when you have legends like Prime, the kids never really achieve the same level of success in the same sport. The Mannings being the exception to the norm. Even Jesse Tuggles son after getting drafted and having some years at houston never stayed in the leaugue every long. Willie Gaults son never really persued sports, track or football, but is a pretty darn good Chicago artist.
Beck is the only one that made the right decision, if he uses it to repair his reputation.
I'm not sure I'd describe Ewers's career as a circus...it's more of a "it's complicated." I think his injuries hurt his development more than any transfer/NIL stuff did, although it (predictably) ended up being a shortsighted decision to leave HS early so he could get an NIL check at Ohio St.Yes. Decent article about it today on cbssports
In fairness I suppose, when Beck was on he was lethal. He just had spells of thinking highly of himself that cost him. Or he would have been in the draft this year. I suppose he knew he screwed the pooch and Smart may have had a heart to heart with him and told him to take one more year somewhere and get it together. But, if he invesnts his last couple years right after taxes, and manages it properly it won't hurt him if hte NFL passes on him.I would say Ewers had a level of immaturity that hurt him early on and caused him to coast on natural talent. Ewers is tough but he didn't use the offseasons to improve/get stronger. He's the same player at 22 as he was at 18. He was atrocious in clutch/red zone spots.....
Beck was humbled last year. Either he will take it to heart or he will coast by being Carson Beck playing a JV schedule....
Banging a Cavinder twin, living in South Beach, and being rich isn't a bad life. It's up to him if he wants to put that effort to football.
I think Ewers Pocket *presents is horrible and never really improved . I only saw him play in a handful of games, but there were times he would take unnecessary sacks and hits and I wouldn’t understand what he was thinking about.I'm not sure I'd describe Ewers's career as a circus...it's more of a "it's complicated." Relative to Beck and especially Sanders, he seems level-headed and mature (which isn't saying much). I do think he was probably immature early on but seemed to grow up at Texas. He seemed to handle the constant chatter about Arch taking his job really well to the point where those two supposedly got along off the field.
